McCain, Palin Drop By for 'Saturday Night Live' Presidential Bash (Videos)

A record number of Americans tuned in to see John McCain and Sarah Palin on “Saturday Night Live” – both this past weekend and a few weeks ago.
But did you see them on "SNL" last night?
Palin and McCain made appearances for "SNL’s" weeknight show, which featured the best of past presidential skits, as well as new material.
The real Palin – not Tina Fey’s version – had a message for "SNL" viewers:
“When I first heard that ‘Saturday Night Live’ had run sketches making fun if me, I will admit I was a little annoyed. Although I was glad to hear the show was still on the air. But I must tell you, I bet very few people know that. Perhaps the show should advertise more … I have no problem with the show making fun of me … but no candidate for office is above criticism.”
She added: “But I should warn you that come January 20 when I am sworn in as vice president, you guys had better knock it off, otherwise, we’ll have to get NBC’s broadcast license revoked.”
McCain also dropped in for the bash, but he did a promo for upcoming NBC shows like “Heroes,” and told us about a maverick television producer he calls “Joe the Network Programmer” — “who would definitely pay more under my opponent’s tax plan.”
Speaking about today’s election, McCain urged people to vote, and whether you vote for him or Obama, he said, “If you vote for me, we could possibly arrange a ride to the polls.”
Also included in the episode was Amy Poehler’s impersonation of Sen. Hillary Clinton, Fred Armisen’s take on Barack Obama, Darrell Hammond doing McCain and more.
"Monday Night Football" isn’t the must-be-there national gathering place it might have been in Howard Cosell’s heyday, but it’s still a big deal.
McCain and Obama also appeared during "Monday Night Football" halftime shows via prerecorded interviews.
The LA Times notes that Obama brightened when asked what one thing about sports he’d like to change.
"I think it is about time we had playoffs" in college football, Obama said. "I’m fed up with these computer rankings and this and that and the other. Get eight teams — the top eight teams right at the end. You got a playoff."
For his part, McCain shows his goofy side when asked what he wanted voters to remember as they go to the polls.
"He. Could. Go. All. The. Way," McCain said, mimicking ESPN interviewer Chris Berman’s signature touchdown call.
