Muslim Cleric: 'Mickey Mouse Should Be Killed'

Arabs from across all ideological stripes are denouncing comments made by two Saudi clerics saying that it was OK to kill the owners of satellite TV stations that show "immoral" content like "Sex and the City" – and even to kill Mickey Mouse.

The Associated Press reports that many Arabs are worried that the recent comments by Sheik Saleh al-Lihedan — chief of the kingdom’s highest tribunal, the Supreme Judiciary Council — would fuel terrorism and encourage attacks on TV station employees and owners.

When al-Lihedan was answering questions from callers to the daily "Light in the Path" religious program on Saudi state radio two weeks ago, one caller asked about Islam’s view of the owners of satellite TV channels that show "bad programs" during the holy month of Ramadan.

Al-Lihedan said: "I want to advise the owners of these channels, who broadcast calls for such indecency and impudence … and I warn them of the consequences … Those calling for corrupt beliefs, certainly it’s permissible to kill them."

Even conservative clerics who oppose the "indecent" programs shown on Arab satellite TV say al-Lihedan went too far.

"Our religion prevents Muslims from watching films that provide seduction, obscenity and vulgarity," Sheik Hazim Awad, an Iraqi cleric, who, like al-Lihedan, is Sunni Muslim, told the AP. But "the real Muslim can just cancel (subscriptions to) these channels," he said.

On Tuesday, another Saudi cleric, Sheik Mohammed Munajjid, told a religious website that the cartoon character Mickey Mouse should be killed because under Islamic law, rats and mice are considered "repulsive" and to be "soldiers of Satan."

"For children they’ve become something great and beloved. Like this Mickey Mouse, who is seen as a great figure, even though under Islamic law, Mickey Mouse should be killed," said Munajjid.

This is Not the Whole Story about the mice and rats .The real story is Disney made this cartoon because people considered the Jews as Dirty Mice & They needed to make mice cute after this ..so people wouldnt think of them as dirty mice …but as cute and such ..You can read about this story in more detail and if ya wanna see how these people really think about America and the Jews then go to a web site called memri.org and then watch the streaming videos .They used to have cartoons and they took them off , I think .Havent been there much after they took off some articles …yes they are gone from the archives …which really upsets me …But if ya wanna see and understand the mind-set of these people then read memri.org and the Iranian blogg and some others on there …links….What American papers and media tell you is one thing …when you read memri.org or any other non american News out-let then you get the whole story ..What you hear on American news is OPINION …just like History Books …yes I am Half Native American and what they wrote in HISTORY books were FULL OF LIES …lots of LIES …even the Cowboy movies are all lies …How do I know ? From my Native American mother ….and family …So all History Books are in America are OPINIONS …not FACT ! I have a nefew that is 7 yrs old I told him the truth about George Washington and I got into trouble with my sister in law .One day as they were driving home from pre-school He said to his mother “Do you like George Washington ? She said yes .He said he didnt like George Washington and she asked why ? Because he cut off infant Native Ears for $5.00 &was Washinton’s reward to anyone who would bring him a Native Baby ear .And he said to her “Aren’t you glad I still have my ears Mom” ? and He showed her he still had his ears …..lol!! So I had to tell him not to tell her any more what I told him and we cant talk about Native Americans any more till he gets older .He said Yea because my Mom is a White Women and I said Yea I know and I am sorry ! She really did get mad at me ..But I told her I could DOCUMENT THAT !!! and I can because its the truth …I have it in writting on paper published ! And she shut up ! But I had to promise not to tell him things till he gets older . I agree with some of the things these Arabs and Moslems and the Islamic people believe in because I believe them also .There is way too much SEX on TV and I remember when as a kid we couldnt even watch TV if people were KISSING ….like on GunSmoke or other TV programs …Now kids see SEX and everything …but the nakedness …and that is Not Good for anyone ..We have been Programed by HOLLYWOOD ….Like the Man named Seymore Butts …The Biggest man in Porn in Hollywood ..and he is Jewish …And one night onThe Simpsons> I heard Bart call Joes bar and ask for Seymore and Joe said Seymore who ? Bart said Seymore Butts …I didnt get it at first and later I did and that made me very angry ! I never watch The Simpsons since then ….1992 or so …I knew it sounded familure …and what a name to have Seymore Butts and be in Porn …And another thing I have no desire to go to Disney Land or World because I fear being Blown Up by a Nut from Islam a fanatic ..I have known for years about how the other parts of the world feel about Disney and Mickey Mouse …and I know the Whole Story not bits and pieces …just do a google or go to memri.org …and read and read …then you will see and understand how these people feel and that is their Freedom of RIGHTS ! to believe and feel how they want to .And ya know they are right we Have No More Morals in this country …even some of the kids cartoons have become nasty …Have ya watched any latley ? I do ! And all I let my nefew watch is BOOM channel the cartoons I watched …and Sponge Bob !

Since 1986 I’ve had an Annual Pass at Disneyland, which allows me to enter the park every day. Cast Members have told me, even before 9/11, one of their biggest fears was some kind of attack at one of the parks. These past few years, the Disneyland Parks have really increased security, checking bags like at the airports. Monitoring people in person and via cameras around the park. With this story they will tighten the security even further. These extremist can use the excuse it’s because Mickey is a mouse. NO - it’s because he is an American Icon, loved around the world. Mickey Mouse is one of the most recognizable faces on the planet. Eliza - no one is safe, so go out and enjoy life.

Ok I know our history books aren’t always the truth or how they exactly happened but to tell a young boy that George Washington would award anyone $5 for Indian Ears…whether its the truth or not…There are just some things you dont tell kids under a certain age. I am so glad you dont have anything to do with my daughter. I think you would scare her… I have seen some of the videos that came out on youtube using Mickey Mouse or a look a like to sing to kids about hating Americans and killing them…Anytime I would get another email with it, I wouldnt watch it. I know they hate us and I can see why they would hate us. We have all that we do YET we still want more and still feel there is more that we can get and that we are due or owed…Instead of being happy & content w/ what we do have, we have to always want more or better. I would hate us too if I had never been able to experience this type of life style. We Americans are whiny babies

Apparently these folks who would “kill” Mickey Mouse will kill you just as quickly and without mercy. They will kill anyone who disagrees with them. They openly preach this philosophy so we had better take them seriously.

Kill Mickey Mouse? How would one do that-with an eraser? White-out? A bit silly but perhaps the cleric is uneducated and knows no better. As far the TV, someone should suggest he doesn’t have to watch what he objects to-obviously there are others who are interested in seeing such shows or they wouldn’t be on TV. Perhaps he would prefer something that shows young innocent girls being murdered and women being set on fire or doused with acid by men who have the morals of an a wild dangerous animals with no conscience.

I’m glad to see your comment, Ms Mugsy. I don’t understand why wOw has chosen to fan the flames of prejudice. It’s not the first time. Except to incite a riot of posters. Which is sort of the opposite of an exaltation of larks or perhaps the same as a shrewdness of apes or a smack of jellyfish … (yes, I’ve been working on collective nouns lately).
