'Tamron Hall, the Magic Negro Anchor Lady' (Video)

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

You go, girl! MSNBC’s anchor Tamron Hall weighed in on the controversial song, "Barack the Magic Negro," saying she wouldn’t find it funny if someone called her "Tamron Hall the Magic Negro Anchor Lady." The anchor was hosting a segment discussing RNC chairman candidate Chip Saltsman’s Christmas greeting this year that contained a CD with the song "Barack the Magic Negro." Hall listened to Kate Obenshain, vice president of Young America’s Foundation, defend the song, calling it "a parody." Then Hall, an African American, interjected, saying there is nothing "funny or amusing" about it. She later told Obenshain, "You’re not going to win a lot of people over calling them ‘Magic Negros.’" Watch below (via ThinkProgress):

Magic Negro” that is so stupid. I hope the “Magic Negro” does not make one single mistake in his Presidency. ya know? Geez. President Elect Barack Obama is a human being like me and all the people on earth. He is not God, and is not a Magic Negro. ha ha ha ha. It is also inappropriate to be calling your President a “Magic Negro”. What are people thinking? geez. I wish President Elect Barack Obama all the luck in the world. He has my prayers also. Good luck Barack Obama !!!

Chip Saltsman is clearly tone deaf and should be tossed out on his ear. He is the face of the Republican party and he has done it no favors. He needs a PR advisor to save him from himself.

Thank you, Lucinda. My thoughts exactly. But, unfortunately, around here in Central Kentucky, this is the type of Republican I am with all the time. And, many thought the “song” was hilarious. I thought the term Negro went out of favor 30 years ago.

Well Di, the mindset of these frat boys is surely apparent in their deeds. And he is gaining support as the head of the RNc within its ranks of good ole boys. The Republican party is going further downhill as a greater clip than before. It should hit bottom any time soon.

Hi…I was just catching up on the top twelve stories thread…and see that you’ve weighed in on this horror story…..and this is evaluation is from one who thought the Fred Armisen Gov. Patterson skit was funny……warped humor warps both ways?…at least bends people out of shape…but that was just awful…..Diana’s Donna Reed vignettes are remarkably like my own…I should no longer be surprised that her observations have such resonance….Really, I think you should give the frat boy song a shot…It’s a long weekend…and freezing where you are, too, I trust. You probably had the presence of mind to lay in plenty o’ Guinness, and if you need any other fortification, go to You Tube and look up Tom Lehrer for a booster shot of witty, silly verse…..Do you remember him?

There are a lot of Republicans upset with the song and do NOT find it at all hilarious. Not all Republicans are like this just look at Abe Lincoln who is the greatest President ever. There are good Republicans just like good Democrats and good Independents.

I’m very aware of that, Tanja. But, the Republican is no longer and has not been the party of Lincoln for a very long time. As far a terrible and amoral Democrats, I think Blago is a supreme example of one.

Yeah there are bad apples in the Democratic party too. Saw that in Spitzer, Blago, Edwards and Barney Frank in just this year. It’s sad. I can see why there are many that are becoming Independent voters. I had friends that did a lot of soul searching in the past. People are people and I no longer vote for someone just because they are in a particular party.

I wish that Independent Candidates would have a chance in elections, there are a lot of good people out there that never have the opportunity to hold office because they don’t work to fit in with the D or R ways.
