Is Nadya Suleman Copying Angelina Jolie? Octuplet Mother Says No. You Decide (Photos)

Separated at Birth?

It’s hard not to notice the resemblance between octo-mom Nadya Suleman and Angelina Jolie. Both have pouty, plush lips and a lot of kids. But in last night’s special hour-long "Dateline" interview with Ann Curry, a clip of which we’ve included below, the 33-year-old mother of 14 said there’s no way she’s had plastic surgery to try and look like the star. "It is so far away from the place I’m in right now to think of any celebrity.” With all those mouths to feed, let’s hope she’s telling the truth.

In addition to discussing Jolie, Curry pressed Suleman on her pathetic financial situation. As the "Dateline" report made clear, Suleman has no income to support her 14 children. The disability payments she got for an on-the-job injury have stopped. Her grad-school loans, totaling $50,000, are spent. She receives food stamps and disability payments to provide for three of her children (one is seriously autistic, one Suleman describes as having ADHD and one she says experienced mild speech delay and what she calls tiny characteristics of autism, as well).

What in the world is the new mom of eight more kids thinking? Curry asked tough (and obvious) questions: Isn’t it selfish to have kids you can’t support? Suleman brushed her off, saying, "I know I’ll be able to afford them when I’m done with my schooling [to be a counselor]." And when Curry asked if Suleman thought having eight more kids might be just a tad unfair to the six she already has, Suleman told her, "I think there are a lot of things in life that are not fair."

When Curry pointed out "the world outside is saying, ‘What are you doing?’" Suleman was quick to defend herself. "I’m providing myself to my children. I’m loving them unconditionally, accepting them unconditionally … They don’t feel as though we’re struggling … I’ll stop my life for them and be present with them. And how many parents do that?"

Suleman did make one promise to Curry: She is done having children.

The only way we would be able to speculate whether she’s using cosmetic procedures to look like Jolie is to compare older photos of her with current ones. I don’t see where that has any real relevance in any case; this woman obviously has much bigger psychological problems.

There are many older pics of her posted all over, for example : http://twitpic.com/1f08r The relevance lies in the fact that she has no income to care for her children and is receiving assistance from the state as well as donations. The money was obviously spent elsewhere i.e her face and simple math dictates that her children are not receiving care that money could’ve provided for them. It’s a case of serious potential negligence on her part. If she had plenty of money nobody would have a second thought about surgery, but this is far from the case.

This woman does not come across as very bright and that makes the whole situation even worse…her children are the ones who will suffer in the long run how can she possibly support these children in the future, no job, no home of her own. This woman and her Dr are both very irresponsible here when did common sense ever come into play?

Caj p I totally agree with you. To top it off even if she get this degree. In this economy of times she still may not be able to get the job with the pay she is dreaming of.

She better not have had any plastic surgery! If she had I am going to be enraged. Because of my income bracket I don’t get federal refunds like many Americans, I have to pay taxes every year. And to know that she is on food stands and receiving disability checks AND out there getting elective surgery to enhance her looks……I would be livid as I am sure most Americans who are in my place would be!

She doesn’t have the brains to copy anyone. She needs to face reality—Jolie can afford them, this idiot can’t even afford to live and feed her 14 kids.

I watched this last night & I have to say that her lips being fake or not is the least of this ladies worries. To hear her talk and give the reasons why she wanted a big family & the number of times she tried to have kids when she was married, and then saved and worked double shifts so she could afford invetro…It was kind of scary. She went to the same Dr for all, so the Dr knew she had all these kids. He knew she already had six, she even admitted they joked about it when she kept coming back for more…Joked about having kids she could not afford. I am not sure what it is about this lady but she angers me. She angers me that she brought all these innocent children into this world where nothing is certain anymore. I thought school loans were to pay for school, not pay your bills, buy food and diapers for your babies? I know you always get more on student loans then what you need so you can do with the rest of the money as you want? I am sure buying diapers and formula isnt what they had in mind. I mean if that is the case what student loan did she get, I can use one and go to school part time! I guess its a good thing they all have the same father.

Ms Hardy, school loans are for school tuition. Period. I wonder how she’s ever going to pay them back. Default on the payments i suppose as she spent the money on IVF. Frankly the kids should be taken from her and she needs to be institutionalized. And yes is you apply for a school loan you can go to school part-time—I encourage you to do it . :-)

You know I always wondered about that b/c I know other people who get student loans and they use most of the money they get on tuition and books and stuff but then the rest of the money they spend or use for bills…I always wondered how school loan money was tracked, or is it. Yes I wonder how she will pay it back, she told Ann Curry last night, that you refinance to a lower payment and then she can afford it and pay it back…didnt make any sense but then again much of anything this lady has said makes any sense. Frank, I dont think they can take the kids away from her. Who would want them all? I mean really, would you want to seperate all 14 ? Where would they go? Into foster care? But then again do you keep them with a Mother who is unstable. Her own daugher said in the interview that her Mother will be more frustrated and tired when her 8 siblings come home…pretty scary.

Depending on the terms of the student loan, some of the money can be used for living expenses if one is going to school full time.

No one tracks how you spend the money from a student loan………once you cash the check and put it into your account, it’s yours to do with as you please. But, if you don’t pay your school tuition and finish your classes in a given semester — then the loan is going to come due. But, aside from that — you can spend it as you chose.

Foster I presume —she’s in no state to care for them properly—food stamps?? she’s already spent the money she got in a settlement from the state on the IVF—what next—even her parents thinks she’s a brick or two short of a full load and her mother said it was reprehensible. Tired —oh my yes—14 kids? and no money! It’s insanity Ms H.

Ms H here’s more info on her: Octuplet mom Nadya Suleman has launched a website asking for donations for her family of 14 children. The site features pictures of the eight newborns, with their names and birth weights, drawings of a rainbow, bottle and pacifier, and has two options to donate. She is accepting monetary donations payable by credit card (MasterCard, Visa, AmEx and Discover taken) and she also given an address to which one can send goods. The website also contains a section to leave a comment and the following message: “We thank you for the love and good wishes sent to us from around the world. The octuplets arrived on 1-26-09. They are all healthy and growing stronger by the day.” Suleman no doubt needs help. She has no income, is $50,000 in debt. She also receives $490 a month in food stamps and receives about $600 in disability payments a month for each of the three of her older six children with disabilities. One has ADHD
