C’mon, people, lay off Nadya Suleman’s innocent children! They never asked the fertility clinic to over-impregnate their single, unemployed mother.

According to reports, the Los Angeles police are currently investigating death threats aimed at Nadya Suleman — the octuplet-bearing mother who recently gave birth to eight babies to boost her brood to 14 children — because she enjoys the company. The police are also assisting Suleman’s publicist handle angry e-mails aimed not only at Suleman, but at her family. How are the children responsible for this? Why take aim at the young ones?

This week Suleman launched a website asking for donations, but also inviting visitors to send comments. A furor of controversy has erupted since Suleman’s pregnancy, from physicians questioning the regulations of fertility clinics to women questioning Suleman’s objectives.

The fertilization specialist responsible for over-impregnating Suleman is also under fire. Not only is the American Society of Reproductive Medicine investigating the octo-doc Michael Kamrava for implanting too many embryos in Suleman, the octo-doc is also reportedly under investigation for over-implanting another woman! Dr. Kamrava reportedly implanted a 49-year-old mother of three with seven embryos — when the woman already had three grown children from a previous marriage and just wanted one more child.

Yesterday, TMZ got their hands on a photograph of Suleman looking enormously swollen and ready to explode shortly before her miracle delivery on January 26. Meanwhile, Suleman is living in an undisclosed location and spends time with all her children. Her eight newborns are expected to remain in the hospital for several weeks.

The only way to deal with this is 1) for the woman to stop going on tv and giving interviews, and 2) take the doctor’s license away and make that the big story in the media.

Saints preserve us! Good for you, DeBurc. (but nothing that woman does would surprise me; sadly she’s insatiable).

Death threats? Now I’ve heard it all. Yes it’s ridiculous for her to have wanted and been afforded the opportunity to be implanted with so many embryos by the doctor. But how does that make someone so angry that they would want to kill her over it? People are crazy. They’ll threaten your life if you choose to abort a child and they’ll threaten your life if you give birth. So if she gave birth to one child, she can live. Two…yea, she can live. Three….ummm okay, we’ll let her live. Four….okay now she’s pushing it, four or more it’s time for her to die! Gee-Louise!

Don’tcha just know all those supporting right to life are contacting her to help out, and adopt any of the kiddos when she’s ready to let them go. They really need to be in foster care, at least. Many foster homes will take twins, and they could be adopted in twos, with agreements to let them know they were uh, 8. I think also of her other children, who need some semblance of sanity, order, consistency, and a mature caregiver. How on earth did she get herself a publicist? That takes the cake. Everyone involved from the plug-oh man in the beginning and octo-mom, but also Kaiser, too. Everyone cashed in to cash out. It has to stop somewhere. Medical ethics went out the window. I was shocked watching the Kaiser team on TV the day they were delivered. Bad, bad, bad. Disgraceful.

Anyone who really cares for those kids and has time and heart to spare for caring for them, would do better to not wait to take possession of them, (which by the way sounds a bit like a vulture to me) but should give something to help them right now without expecting or demanding anything in return except maybe gratitude or recognition. IF it is really about those poor children. The judgment on the mother’s questionable judgment and ethics is irrelevant to what is truly best for her children. The best thing for the kids IMO should always be to keep kids with their real family unless they are truly unwanted or there is irreconciliable unfitness. You can’t take away someone’s kids as a moral judgment. There is a reason adopted kids usually grow up to at least fantasize about finding their real family which is that treating kids as things that can just be moved around and replanted here or there is very harmful to a kid’s developing sense of identity. Kids should only be taken away from their real biological family when they are not wanted or when it’s in the kids’ best interests. This woman has bad judgment, but the kids are still better off with her. It is true that she is going to need support, as she obviously does not have the maturity (let alone the money) to raise kids unassisted. I also feel it’s very important that this does not set some new standard of what is ok. The mother’s behavior is not OK. The point is, that’s a separate issue. It is a tragedy that should not have been allowed to exist, but now that it is here, the fact is - they are a family now, and one should not be casual about breaking up other peoples’ families. If the woman warrants punishment, then punish her, but don’t pretend that’s what’s best for the kids. What is best for the kids is an outpouring of charity similar to what other multiple birth moms have enjoyed receiving!

I don’t believe it for a second. Every single comment I’ve read on this trainwreck condemns the mother and makes a point of wishing those poor children well. I’ll bet cash money that the claims of “death threats” are just the latest PR stunt to elicit sympathy for this woman since nothing else has worked. I’m glad the police are involved and I predict that by next week we’ll be hearing from them the claims were totally without merit.

They take away the crazy cat lady’s 14 cats because she cannot humanely care for them…And I see no way any one woman can care for 8 babies at once, alone, with no job, and 6 other kids to boot! Government help and charity, she still cannot emotionally manage that many, much less physically. As for that doctor, they need to rip his license away from him. ‘Island of Dr. Moreau’ anyone?

Island of Dr. Moreau—not quite apt but every effective analogy nevertheless. :-)
