Kennedy Rivals Insist Paterson's Picked Caroline

In this series, which started in July ‘08, wowOwow follows the political news swirling around Caroline Kennedy since her surprise endorsement of Barack Obama and high-profile placement on his VP selection committee. Now, Caroline is ready to launch a political career of her own. With the Caroline Kennedy Candidacy Watch, we’ll follow all the latest news.
Has New York Gov. David Paterson finally decided that Caroline Kennedy will be the next junior senator from New York? The New York Post thinks so. The Rupert Murdoch-owned newspaper reports that several Kennedy rivals have told people they’re "certain" Paterson will pick her to fill Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat. These people, who were also eyeing the seat, are convinced Paterson would "greatly embarrass" and "entirely humiliate" Kennedy, anger her prominent political family and even offend President-elect Barack Obama if he didn’t send her to Washington.
Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-NY, thinks Paterson’s simply looking out for himself, while another candidate told the Post he’s sure Kennedy will get the job because Attorney General Andrew Cuomo failed to line up the right replacement at the AG’s office. Cuomo’s actually the favorite in the race.
Paterson himself still says he hasn’t made up his mind. He said Monday that he wants someone who "has a plan" to deal with the economy and how to help suffering New Yorkers. He said he will make up his mind within the next few days. Some politicos say the endless delays seem to boost Kennedy’s odds.
Regardless of whether she gets the job or not, Kennedy is still seen by some as a sort of superhero — at least, enough to be the subject of a new comic book due to be released in June. She will be featured in the fourth "Female Force," a publication that showcases women pioneers in modern history. This year’s books will focus on Kennedy, Clinton, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Michelle Obama.
