Obama Is a Force of Nature

Candice Bergen
I agree with Joan Cooney on this (as with so much). It might have sped things up a bit but Obama is a force of nature.

I’m from NC and I even contributed to John Edwards’ campaign…not much but some. I wanted Hillary to be the candidate even though I donated to John. Now I am every bit ready to vote for Obama. I don’t know whether this latest awful news about John would have changed what happened to Hillary. I do know I am so very, very sad for John’s wife and their children. Sadness, that’s the only feeling I have right now.

I hope Obama is a force of nature! He seems stalled. As to agreeing with Joan Cooney and the other WOW women, my aren’t we all so sophisticated. That said, yes, other events are more important. However I don’t feel as sanguine as the rest of you about John Edwards’ behavior. When he puts his family front and center of his campaign and holds up his 31-year marriage with his college sweetheart as the essence of what his values are, I think the public has the right to be disgusted with his lies and cheating.

It appears to be ok to use your wife’s illness for political capital. Edwards baited and insulted Hillary repeatedly. His remark about not liking the color of her jacket in one of early debates was asinine and sexist. I am not chic enough to find Edward’s behavior tolerable, and this is NOT France. This vain twerp didn’t even consider the destructiveness of his behavior. This is important for reasons few want to consider. This is vile sexist behavior, and his comments further reveal a shallow immature man whose sense of entitlement far exceeds his brain.

If you can’t find Edwards behavior tolerable, I guess you will be waiting around for the perfect man forever. They don’t exist, name one. It is wrong for a man or a women to cheat. But at least he didn’t lie the country into a sham of a War by saying there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and in fact there were none., Thousands of people died for nothing, and the country is in trillions of dollars of debt, the economy is sinking and unemployment is the highest it has been in 6 years. I am sorry, if Edwards had a chance to be President and was the nominee, i would not change my mind based on a personal mistake, every one is allowed a mistake, he didn’t hurt me he hurt his wife and family they have moved on and forgave him. Stop picking on this man, I have never seen such outrage among people, you all act as though it was the first politician to cheat on his wife. Non stop coverage, when talked about the issues, he couldn’t get anyone’s ear. His wife campaigned knowing he had been unfaithful, because it was worth trying to get a man in the White House that might do this country some good. I guess you are not voting for McCain, either, because he certainly cheated on his first wife, with his now second wife, that makes them both cheaters. He also has been rumored to have had an affair with a lobbyiest, but obviously she has good friends, unlike the women that Edwards took up with, who she confided and then sold her story to the rag Enquirer. Wait till Obama gets outted, like I said no one is perfect.

John Edwards betrayed his wife in 2006 and that is their business alone. Both John and Elizabeth Edwards betrayed the country in 2008 and that is our business. The fact that they knew that this was in his closet and risked a disaster for the Democratic Party and the country if he had won the nomination is what bothers me most about it.

I don’t know about you, but I voted for Bill Clinton twice. He was a good President, and obviously a lousy husband and that’s Hillary’s problem. Don’t forget Jennifer Flowers met with press and vetted Bill. People have short memories. Why in the hell are people in America, so judgemental, when the divorce rate in this country is extremely high, if they are married at all.

I voted for Bill Clinton twice too. And I would have voted for him a third time if I could! I don’t care what they do in their personal lives if they do a good job in the position we elected them to.

I loved the Edwards but don’t get how they could think that this information wouldn’t fall into the hands of a snoopy reporter!

I voted for Clinton twice too. I wouldn’t let affairs keep me from voting for someone I thought was good for the country. But there are a lot of people out there who seem to care about this stuff, enough so that I think the Edwards’ should have stayed out of the race, especially after the Clinton years. Personally, I don’t care one bit about their personal lives as long as they do their job well. George W. could be the best husband in the world, I have no idea on that actually, but he is the worst president in my lifetime anyway. I think Nixon was faithful too and look what a mess he was, there are worse flaws than infidelity that’s for sure!
