The Obama, McCain Housing Crisis: It's Not the One You Think (Videos)

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

For the past week, a viral battle has been brewing between Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and his Republican rival John McCain over housing. No, not the housing crisis that you think — not the one we hear about every night, the one that has caused the greatest home price decline since the Great Depression. Not that one that might cause Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to collapse as early as this afternoon, according to CNBC’s Jim Cramer. No, what ignited this back-and-forth campaign has to do with the houses owned by the two candidates, as in how many they have and how they got them. This particularly silly series of video attacks began after John McCain admitted to Politico.com that he has no clue how many homes he owns — and Barack Obama immediately bounced on the blunder as proof that McCain is too out of touch with American voters.

Whether Obama owns one home and McCain owns seven or eight, both of them are worth a hefty fortune, according to CBS News and the New York Post. Watch these two YouTube videos below to witness some of the "housing war" campaign attacks.

Again who cares how many homes McCain and his wife has…who cares that he married into money…Great for the Obama’s to do what they did! But that still doesnt tell me who would be better as our President…Lordie I dont care if they lived in cardboard boxes just run my country so I dont see tanks rolling down my streets & having to hear bombs go off all hours of the day & night… Jeez people do we actually really care how many homes or the fact that he didnt know…seriously. Just b/c Obama has 1 in Chicago that is worth 1/2 as much as all of McCain’s homes???? And I am sure the home he rents in DC is just as expensive…WHO CARES…Sounds a little like jealousy to me

Obama’s home is nowhere near 1/2 of all McCain’s homes, where did you hear that? Rush? The fact is McCain brought this on himself by trying to characterize Obama as an elitist, THAT is why people care how many houses McCain has, how much money and priviledge he came from, how much he got with the wife and how expensive his shoes are! And it also explains why the guy doesn’t seem to think we have an economic problem, a home foreclosure problem and why he doesn’t seem to think we have a healthcare crisis. None of this stuff ever effected him and I doubt it has effected anyone he knows.

I don’t get this whole “he has too many homes” chant. Is there something wrong with being successful now? Why on earth is the Obamanation campaign making home ownership an evil thing?

My Alias, Obama’s followers chant a lot to kick up dust. The louder they scream about McCain’s homes, the less we’ll hear of the Rezko deals. I think it’s called negative campaigning. The wealth thing is confusing because JFK is an Obama hero, his daughter Caroline is talked up all the time on this site. Now there’s wealth we can believe in. Then there’s Oprah. The 16 ladies on the masthead. Need I go on? Obama surrounds himself with people of wealth, that’s his shtick.

Obama has already disassociated himself from the Rezko deal—I’m sure that he will address that point eventually. Obama surrounds himself with people who are creatuve intelligent and incisive in their thinking—wealth has little to do with it unlike McCain who cheated on his first wife who was in dire straits to be with a woman with a whole lotta bucks. And Obama actually wrote is books himself unlike McCain who haad his ghosted..

Politics is a dirty game—crap happens. As far Wright, that was done immediately on Wright’s statements and Obama was right to disassocaite himself from garbage like Wright was throwing out.

Excuse me but the Bush administration thru its lunatic war has caused the housing crisis in the country—Obama had nothing to do with that.
