The Obama, McCain Housing Crisis: It's Not the One You Think (Videos)

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

For the past week, a viral battle has been brewing between Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and his Republican rival John McCain over housing. No, not the housing crisis that you think — not the one we hear about every night, the one that has caused the greatest home price decline since the Great Depression. Not that one that might cause Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to collapse as early as this afternoon, according to CNBC’s Jim Cramer. No, what ignited this back-and-forth campaign has to do with the houses owned by the two candidates, as in how many they have and how they got them. This particularly silly series of video attacks began after John McCain admitted to Politico.com that he has no clue how many homes he owns — and Barack Obama immediately bounced on the blunder as proof that McCain is too out of touch with American voters.

Whether Obama owns one home and McCain owns seven or eight, both of them are worth a hefty fortune, according to CBS News and the New York Post. Watch these two YouTube videos below to witness some of the "housing war" campaign attacks.

I was there on the ground in the Nam so don’t give me any of that.

You need to unwrap yourself from the flag and admit that maybe Frank knows more about the life of a soldier in wartime than you do. He wasn’t trashing anyone, he was looking past the POW mantle.

McCain has sadly answered too many issues with ‘I was a POW’. He is the one belittling his POW status, by using it as a wedge against anything and everything. This is just a small snapshot, as an example of the wide array of subjects for which he invokes his POW status …as a complete end to any discussion. McCain didn’t know how many houses he owned: “This is a guy who lived in one house for five and a half years — in prison.” Not in a cone of silence at Saddleback: “The insinuation from the Obama campaign that John McCain, a former prisoner of war, cheated is outrageous.” Elizabeth Edwards criticizes McCain’s health care policy: aides said McCain knew what it was like to get inadequate care “from another government.” Sen. Hillary Clinton proposed funds for a museum celebrating Woodstock. McCain said he didn’t know what there was to celebrate, because he was “tied up” during the music festival.

Read through any of the political threads on this board and you’ll see one common thread among all those who say they will or may support McCain over Obama. None of them seem to be voting FOR McCain but AGAINST Obama for one of three reasons, none of which have anything to do with the issues this country is facing. The reason I see given most often is because they’re bitter because Hillary isn’t the candidate and they don’t give a flying leap what their vote for McCain will be sentencing this country to for at least the next 4 years. Another is that they’re repubicans and will vote for the candidate of that party and couldn’t care less about what that vote will sentence this country to for at least the next 4 years as long as there’s a rep in the White House. Then there are the ones who are afraid to vote for a young black man, but of course they don’t mention the “black” part. They come up with all sorts of nonsense mostly based on some lie or misdirecting comment that’s been proliferated by the Rove/McCain swiftboaters. Again, what they’re sentencing this country to isn’t part of the decision making process. None of them has yet to give a good reason to vote FOR McCain. But vote for him they will even if it means death to thousands or even millions more people because of an unjust war, an economy that may very well slide into a full fledged depression, millions more job losses in this country, ect., ect., ect., McSame, McSame, McSame.

Sherrie: “…FOR McCain but AGAINST Obama for one of three reasons, none of which have anything to do with the issues this country is facing. ” Now you’re getting it, and there are about 4,000,000 other voters doing the same thing. At last count. The issues are a moving target, they change daily. For/against. Flip/flop.

I watched the View last week with Michelle Obama. The ladies of the view loved her dress. Michelle Obama said it came from the White House Black Market store. I can even afford that store. I think she is a frugal spender. And looks great in her clothes.

Is this MyAlias person one of those that were being discussed in another thread who posts volatile absurdities under multiple names just to stir up trouble?
By Sherrie Crews on 08/25/2008 2:03 pm
Star Lawrence
Nope—she has been posting under that name since the site started. She is not an Obama supporter is all.

Sherrie, My Alias is way to classy to come on as Rush L. or anyone but herself. That is clearly an Obama entity. They’ve been doing it a long time. Cut and paste. Long hate-filled diatribes. Multiple identities. Definitely Obama stuff.

Well Marjorie, I’ve read the phrase “Don’t feed the Troll” on many messageboards meaning not to give a troublemaker with nothing good to contribute a reason to respond. I guess what you’re telling me now is to stop feeding Troll McCain.
