Palin Aides Hit Back Over McCain Campaign Staff Leaks on Clothes, Towels and Africa (Video)

Sarah Palin is shooting back at criticisms and smears coming from anonymous people within John McCain’s campaign.

In an e-mail statement to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, a top aide to Palin on Thursday said:

"This is so unfortunately and, quite honestly, sickening. The accusations we are hearing and reading are not true and since we deny all these anonymous allegations, there is nothing specific to which we will respond. We have the highest regards for Sen. John McCain. Gov. Palin was honored to be chosen as McCain’s running mate and as governor of Alaska, Gov. Palin looks forward to working with President-elect Obama on securing energy independence for America."

Palin herself on Wednesday said: "They’re unnamed sources and that says it all," calling the people behind the leaks "small, bitter people."

Palin said her relationship with McCain himself was "great." "I have nothing but admiration for him, I love him."

She also blasted the media for not doing more to "correct" the misinformation that was reported over and over about her record during the last two months of the campaign.

The Los Angeles Times reported that MCain aides said a Republican Party lawyer would be dispatched to Alaska to inventory and retrieve the clothes still in her possession purchased with the party’s money. Although McCain staffers say they were surprised by the amount of money Palin was spending on clothes — and that she went overbudget and had her staff put clothing purchases on personal credit cards — Palin aides deny this.

Several close to the governor said that Palin was outraged by the amount of money being spent on her clothing and that she was naive about what the clothes cost.

"The very first day of shopping, there was a $14,000 price tag and … she was absolutely shocked," one of the Palin aides said.

Palin didn’t like some of the clothes that were chosen for her, the aide said, adding that "a lot of that stuff that was purchased was never worn by her — that was by her choice." Palin was then frustrated when the press got wind of the story, telling audiences that she wears a lot of her own clothing and hadn’t asked for the lavish purchases.

The latest on the wardrobe, The Washington Post reports today, is that on top of the $150,000 first outlined in federal filings, Palin spent "tens of thousands of dollars" on additional clothing, makeup and jewelry for herself and her family, including $40,000 in luxury goods for her husband, Todd. The campaign was charged for silk boxer shorts, spray tanners and 13 suitcases to carry all the designer clothes, according to two GOP insiders.

I guess this is an example of how McCain and his group “reaches across the isle” to maintain good will and acchieve accord even among their own.

Ouch. I cannot even listen to her voice. What’d she say in the video? Uh. A gazillion words with no message as usual.

I guess McCain has to blame his loss on someone and the obvious choice would be Sarah Palin…Isnt that how it always goes…I mean you cheat YET its not your fault, you beat someone up, YET again, its not your fault. If McCain would have won that would be b/c he choose such a great running mate…I am starting to really think it was for the best that McCain didnt win.

Gulliver so I guess you would call the hunting I do with my husband and friends murder? I mean we have rifles that will allow us to shoot deer up to miles away? We can sit in the house or on the porch and shoot deer or anything we want…So does that make me a murdurer? Im just asking b/c your saying Palin shoots Caribou from 1/2 mile away a murdurer?

Not in TX and not in AK either…Here is VA! I guess it would be the same b/c I dont think its right that people make “deer” snacks and sell them for hunters to bring the deer to the snack and then shoot them. I think hunting is that, you go out and if you get lucky, you get lucky, if not, try again the next day.

Hi, C Hardy. I agree with your view of hunting. I do not hunt myself, but I think there should be a challenge involved. A battle of wits between hunter and prey. I worked with someone who was loved to fish, and one day he was telling anyone who would listen about his new GPS toy, which he used to find his favorite fishing spots. He had his fancy lures, his trolling motor, his fish sonar, and then his GPS. He did not like it when I suggested he was taking the sport out of sportsfishing. Might as well use dynamite and net the fish when they float to the surface. It seems to me that using a sniper rifle gives an unsportsmanlike advantage to the hunter. If the deer cannot even hear the gunshot until the bullet arrives, you might as well tie it up and shoot it. I have a lot more respect for the bow hunters. I also have noted that they are now saying that people should not eat deer killed with lead bullets because of lead poisoning.

Now that the election is over it’ll be interesting to see where things go and how the country recovers. I wonder how much attention will go to Sarah Palin. How much longer do you think she’ll be in the spotlight prepping for a run in 2012? People are still doing videos on her. Good or bad, she’s become somewhat of a pop icon. For instance, I found this video on dressing like Palin: http://www.mindbites.com/lesson/668-how-to-dress-like-sarah-palin

I couldn’t stand to listen to her anymore, She has a lot of nerve complaining about falsehoods directed at her after the things she said about Obama, every time she opened her mouth she either lied or stuck her foot in it. We need to remember what kind of person she is because I am very afraid she will be back.

It is too bad we have not seen the end of her. It depends on which way the Republican party decides to go. I hear a lot of Republicaan complaining that the evangelical christian right destroyed their party. Sarah represents this group. Is this the Republican base? I hope not because I think that Republicans voted for Obama as a rejection of the evangelical right wing nuts.

Sarah Palin at the most revived John McCains campaign. His staff, which ran a pathetic campaign needs someone to blame. She’s the target. Isn’t it strange that we pride ourselves in living in a country where we have the freedom of speech and thought, but when someone has the guts to believe in something and verbalize that thought they are dragged through the dirt by people that don’t agree. Wonder how many women in this country spend $l50,000.00 on one outfit. I’ll bet many of you would sell your soul to be that woman. Wonder also how many of you have accents, as there are many different dialects in this country, that would curl toenails.

Although I did not care for Palin one bit, at any moment, I think this smear campaign is atrocious! I refer to this as a ‘smear campaign’ for several reasons…..and I blame the media for not doing its’ ‘investigative’ work, to discover and report on ‘the truth’. The ‘he-said/she-said’ has no merit, under ANY circumstances…it had none for me in the campaign either, if there was nothing presented, that could be publicly verifed, in writing, showing a source that could be deemed ‘reputable—-an example would be the voting record of each candidate vs. their ‘campaign rhetoric’ on alternative energy. but that is another story for another day. If the ‘unnamed sources’ cannot produce verifiable receipts with signatures, time and date stamped—-then this whole thing is ONLYa smear with intent to discredit Palin. If they can, and fail to do so—-that still leaves these accusations unprovable. I wonder why Palin did not think to make copiesof the receipts, if she were the one that bought the stuff. For her own protection, to prove that she was not doing something that she was told not to do. I wonder why the McCain people were originally the ones reported to have done the shopping, and now are saying that Palin was the culprit? I wonder why the McCain-Feingold act was overlooked to begin with, by the ‘smart McCain aides’ in the campaign? This whole thing is stinky fish, being covered up with ‘it’s not my fault’ statements—-and NO ONE is asking for receipts to clear the stink out of the room!

All that nasty stuff Gov. Palin spewed from her mouth is coming back to bite her in the BUTT! You reap what you sow! Live by the sword… DUH! You know, Grandma always said, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all, too bad Sarah did not know my Grandma. Obama ran a decent campaign and it paid off. Notice, McCain is being very quiet. Gov. Palin should do the same.

Well, gosh darn, why do not all of you get together, grab some torches, a hanging rope, then head over to Alaska to lynch Sarah? Perhaps hanging her from a pine tree would satiate your psychotic need to bitch and complain. You will have to hang me, as well. I will be standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Sarah in defense. She is a fellow citizen, she has good intent, she has performed good for many people, she deserves common respect. Those are personal attributes worth defending. Are you, plural, worth defending?
