Palin Bites Back at Ashley Judd, Animal Activists

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Sarah Palin minced no words in her attack on Ashley Judd and animal activists who lashed out at the governor’s alleged plan to introduce legislation allowing hunters to use helicopters in their wolf-hunting missions. In a statement released yesterday, Palin insisted Judd and the non-profit Defenders of Wildlife’s just-released commercial amounts to nothing more than a deceptive "fund-raising tool":

It is reprehensible and hypocritical that the Defenders of Wildlife would use Alaska and my administration as a fundraising tool to deceive Americans into parting with their hard-earned money.

The ad campaign by this extreme fringe group, as Alaskans have witnessed over the last several years, distorts the facts about Alaska’s wildlife-management programs … Our predator-control programs are scientific and successful at protecting vulnerable wildlife. These audacious fund-raising attempts misrepresent what goes on in Alaska, and I encourage people to learn the facts about Alaska’s positive record of managing wildlife for abundance.

Shame on the Defenders of Wildlife for twisting the truth in an effort to raise funds from innocent and hard-pressed Americans struggling with these rough economic times.

Palin did not say, however, whether she will in fact introduce the contentious legislation.

Good for Ashley. Just a little bit of triva about her: She is a graduate of the University of Ky. here in Lexington; I think she majored in French Literature. But, she returns for almost every basketball game when her schedule allows it, and it’s not at all unusual to see her at Rupp Arena in her Blue and White rooting the WildCats on….

I guess this is considered “sportmanlike conduct” in the great state of Alaska. They should try it on foot if they think they are so skilled. This is the same type of hunter that uses night vision goggles and other high tech devices just so they can feel macho.

A friend of mine and mentor has a comment when hunting anything comes up and that is… “Lets make it sporting. Take away every advantage a hunter has, because honestly it doesn’t take much to hide in a tree with a rifle and scope, lets give them a 2” pocket knife and see if they are successful.”

Joshua, I agree with your friend. Actually, I’m not anti-hunting. Here in Kentucky, I know several dads that provide their family with the meat from venisons for the whole winter. But, I think a true hunter relies on his instincts, in a safe way to take out the animal quickly and humanely. Every watch the slaughter of cattle in the movie Fast Food Nation? About as un-humane as anything you could witness. But, these guys that have to shoot from the air(unless it’s proven to be a marauding dangerous animal), use night vision and GPS? Come on, where is the sportmanship in that? I don’t believe in knives and bows/arrows because it results in slow death for the animal.

Ashley might be a French Lit Graduate put knows zero when it comes to Wild game conservation and management. In addition many including Alaskans and Native American’s in Alaska would starve without wild game. Here’s some trivia Gov. Palin is an inspiration to young women and women basketball players http://becauseiplayedsports.com/2008/06/20/because-she-played-sarah-pali… and runs 7-10 miles a day http://www.examiner.com/x-355-Low-Carb-Examiner~y2008m8d30-Alaskan-Gover… which trumps FAN in my book. Ashley did have that movie were she had a bovine theory about man, are those her expertise in wild game management? I’ve always found it ironic how some liberals defend animals yet are not compelled to protect human life! Just seems odd to me.

What else would she say, she’s a hunter and proud of it and doesn’t want anybody going against what she believes in. Just because she thinks killing animals is fine with her does not make it right in many peoples eyes and they have every right to voice their opinion.

Why? Why is it so important to knock her down? Unbelievable that people recognized the mean and sexist treatment of Sen. Clinton but refuse to acknowledge the unfair treatment of Gov. Palin. It amazes me that woman participate in unfair treatment and sexism towards other women which is counterproductive to the advancement of all women.

So can I fly a helicopter over your house and take pot shots at the animals in your back yard?

I’ll say we need to knock anyone down who think hunting from a helicopter or plane is right. It the subject not the person that gets under my skin. As far as I know this is not a seasonal thing or limited to an area to help control the population. So far from what I’ve read she just thinks its right.

I’ll tell you what’s counterproductive—supporting Palin who knows nothing at all but sure looks good in pretty clothes, trendy glasses with gun in hand as opposed to supporting many other women in politics (not just Hillary) who actually do read, analyze issues, and are capable of intelligent thought.
