Palin Bites Back at Ashley Judd, Animal Activists

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Sarah Palin minced no words in her attack on Ashley Judd and animal activists who lashed out at the governor’s alleged plan to introduce legislation allowing hunters to use helicopters in their wolf-hunting missions. In a statement released yesterday, Palin insisted Judd and the non-profit Defenders of Wildlife’s just-released commercial amounts to nothing more than a deceptive "fund-raising tool":

It is reprehensible and hypocritical that the Defenders of Wildlife would use Alaska and my administration as a fundraising tool to deceive Americans into parting with their hard-earned money.

The ad campaign by this extreme fringe group, as Alaskans have witnessed over the last several years, distorts the facts about Alaska’s wildlife-management programs … Our predator-control programs are scientific and successful at protecting vulnerable wildlife. These audacious fund-raising attempts misrepresent what goes on in Alaska, and I encourage people to learn the facts about Alaska’s positive record of managing wildlife for abundance.

Shame on the Defenders of Wildlife for twisting the truth in an effort to raise funds from innocent and hard-pressed Americans struggling with these rough economic times.

Palin did not say, however, whether she will in fact introduce the contentious legislation.

Lady Gator: Here in Florida they hunt Alligators (Gators) each year. It seems cruel, but wildlife has to be controlled. Either that or we have to abandon the place and move to Europe where they don’t seem to have as much of a problem… took care of it years ago. Think we’ll all fit in France? I like France.

I like France, too, but not Paris so much. I went to Italy for three weeks last year and could easily relocate there for two months every year. Other than that, I don’t ever want to live in a European country. I ate wild boar in Radda in Chianti…mightly nice!

deber: I like France, too, but not Paris so much. The old saying: Paris isn’t France, and France isn’t Paris holds a wealth of truth. I didn’t care for Paris, either, or the area around Versailles. If you’re going to get robbed or gypped it’ll be around there — my experience anyway. I ate wild boar in Radda in Chianti…mightly nice! Wow. The Chianti probably helped. I’ve cut back on meat to almost nothing. Somehow, it has lost its appeal. But, I don’t begrudge others the pleasure… unless they are spouting off about the cruelty of wildlife maintenance.

Some Texans are proposing allowing hunting wild hogs from helicopters because of their prevalence in farm areas. What say ye to that? They’re not as pretty as wolves but are they less worthy? I don’t have an opinion yet. Peace and grace

Personally I think would be inhumane.

And dangerous. My son knows nothing about hunting, but he went with a friend who grew up hunting to trap some wild pigs. My son did it for the experience, plus the meat was dressed out and families ate it. Our family knows nothing about hunting, and he never went again. We don’t know how damaging these wild hogs are to farming……….Josh’s friend said, they really destroy a lot of property and crops. Still, helicoptors seems to change argument. Beyond the question of inhumane treatment of animals or lopsided advantage, here come the lawsuits when the helicoptors crash into one another. Peace and grace

Palin is not authorizing these wolves to be hunted because they are a “hazard” or for anyone’s “well being”… she is authorizing it because they are competition with the hunting industry. She is having these wolves shot from helicopters because she would rather have the caribou available for trophy hunters than their natural predator.

Now here is a fact to investigate. How many licenses are sold to out of state hunters? That would probably be a fairly accurate reflection of trophy hunters. Don’t you think? Peace and grace

Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

thatsoutherngirl: Ashley Judd is a vegetarian. If that’s the case, then I retract all the leg of lamb references. But, seriously Judd should picket the slaughterhouses. Granted it isn’t as popular as bashing Gov. Palin, but she could do a lot of good for a lot more animals.

My guess is that she probably is involved with more than just the Palin thing… it’s just that the Palin thing made it to the media. She could very well picket the slaughterhouses. We know from the articles in wowOwow that she is a very involved humanitarian.
