Palin's Communications Guru Discusses Gov's Game Plan

WoW has learned that former vice-presidential nominee, Sarah Palin,
will be the featured guest at the Republican Governors Association
annual conference to be held later this week in Miami, Florida. Despite these rumors, Palin’s communications specialist, Kate Morgan, clarifies from the Governor’s Juneau office: "She anticipates to go" to the conference. Well, then!
Perhaps looking
forward to mooseless beaches, instead of the Alaskan cold tundra,
Governor Palin is set to be a featured speaker at a panel discussion
entitled, "Looking Toward the Future." Other featured speakers
expected to participate on the panel are General Tommy Franks, Rep.
Mike Pence (R-IN), journalist Bill Kristol, and Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-MN). We also hear that Palin
will be holding a press conference Thursday, the first time she will address the nation while not
beholden to McCain’s marionette-like strings. From the glory of it all
and talking to throngs of thousands, to chatting about Iraq, Iran,
Ahmadinejad, Russia, to being involved in so called shopping-gate as the
Republican nominee, WoW was interested in speaking with Kate Morgan, to
find out what issues the Alaskan governor is working on now since
returning to her office last week. And, golly, if you can figure out
this transcript, please email us here at WoW to tell us what Morgan
meant.
First off Morgan said clearly that "the Governor’s primary issues
include, resource development, infrastructure and education." (That
WoW got!)
This was also made clear: "One of the main things the governor is
focusing on is getting the gas line moving. We’ve gotten the
legislation passed and we’ve awarded a license to trans Canada-Alaska,
so she’s working on getting all of the rest of the progress passed to
be made there as far as working with other oil companies to kind of lay
down to get that gas line flowing. That I would say is her main focus."
Hmm, it’s around this point that things get more complicated…
"Other issues facing the state — what some people consider to be
inaccurate — how would I put that — listings of certain Alaskan
animals as endangered or what is that second term that they use?
They’re at risk? No… That’s not the technical term. Anyway, there’s
two listings there specifically dealing with polar bears and there’s
also the issue with beluga whales. So there’s different things and the
issue there is of course wanting to provide a substantive lifestyle for
our first Alaskans here which are the indigenous people and also
wanting to protect our environment wanting to be good stewards to that
and to take care of the animals that make Alaska. What it is however
if they are improperly categorized then that can run snags on other
types of development that would benefit not only people of Alaska but
the world such as depending on certain kinds of drilling that we do
off-shore either or people are in a hurry to list groups of whales as
endangered or at risk than that might impede the progress that we’d be
making to free or to lighten the the load that America has us obtaining
oil from overseas." (Got it?)
Morgan also went on to coherently explain, "In the last few months the
governor has been vocal about her commitment to special needs family
and children and so that’s going to be a big focus in the coming years
of her administration. She’s already showed her commitment by 3-year
forward funding for education which has never been done in our state
before."
Finally, Morgan tied things up by addressing Alaska’s fuel issues.
She said, "Fuel cost is a big issue. We are seeing a lot of out
migration and families moving to Anchorage or to other larger
communities because they can’t afford to live in their communities out
in the bush anymore. We’re trying to figure out how we can best assist
them."
As for Palin daughter Bristol’s wedding plans, Morgan replied, "Um, that’s
not something I talked to her about." Now that was an issue WoW
understood.
