Palin's Glasses a New Fashion Trend

Sarah Palin’s glasses are causing a fashion stir.
The Japanese designer of those clear-rim glasses of hers says her style is all the rage, and he’s grateful for the attention the "very good-looking" Alaska governor is drawing to his creation.
Kazuo Kawasaki of Masunaga Optical Manufacturing, the designer of Palin’s specs, told the Associated Press: "I want to say, ‘Thank you,’ to Ms. Palin."
"I want people to realize how fantastic ‘Made in Japan’ technology can be."
Kawasaki’s glasses have been seen on celebrities such as former Secretary of State Colin Powell and our own Whoopi Goldberg. But he has never gotten quite the reception he has enjoyed since the 44-year-old Palin started wearing the glasses.
Masunaga Optical in Fukui, Japan, usually makes 12,000 per year and a half of the clear-rim MP-704 glasses, made of super-light and non-allergenic metal called titanium. But now, thanks to Palin, the company has already received 9,000 global orders, mostly from the U.S., just within the past two weeks.
While Kawasaki says he shares many of the same political statements with Palin and John McCain, Kawasaki said whoever the new president is, he’d like him to "build peace in the international order."
