Palin's Makeup Guru Talks About Tricks of the Trade on the Campaign Trail

Wondering how Sarah Palin looked so fabulous on the campaign trail?
No, we’re not talking about her reported $150,000 wardrobe. We’re talking about her makeup.
TalkingShopping.com caught up with Amy Strozzi, who was nominated for an Emmy for her makeup work on “So You Think You Can Dance” — and who was Palin’s makeup artist on the road. Strozzi was paid a lot of money to make Palin look good. In fact, she was the highest paid person in John McCain’s presidential campaign during the first half of October; she made $22,800 during the month’s first two weeks alone.
Anyway, here are a few things Strozzi said about Palin: (You can read more here.)
-Some of Palin’s eyelashes were fake; the hockey mom’s lashes needed to be thick and lush for the camera.
-She used some of Palin’s own personal foundation, Revlon Age Defying Makeup with Botafirm in Medium Beige, daily.
-Strozzi came up with Palin’s look by watching news shows “to see what was the standard vibe throughout politics, since it’s an arena much different than celebrity or fashion.”
“Plus, this woman was running for an extremely important office, so we had to walk a fine line with keeping her looking beautiful and fresh, but also appropriate for a White House candidate. There were probably three or four core looks I stuck with, using different color combinations to mix it up.”
-Palin loved how Strozzi did her eyes: “I remember once, when I was doing a fun gold eye on her with two tones, she said, ‘I love how you do those eyes Amy …’ I think it’s difficult for women who wear glasses to find a way of wearing eye shadow that works for them … I wore glasses my whole life, so I have tricks.”
-The Wasilla beauty has “the most beautiful skin I have ever worked with,” Strozzi said. “The condition of her skin was flawless. I attribute it to the clean Alaskan air, lots of fresh fish and protein and a good fitness regime.”
We knew there was something in that Alaska air …
