Palin's Pricey Clothes Sitting Pretty at GOP HQ

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Remember Sarah Palin’s pricey campaign threads? You know, the ones that cost an estimated $180,000, caused a political headache and that, she and John McCain’s camp said, would be given to charity?

Well, they’ve yet to find a new home and are currently stuffed in trash bags at the Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington. The New Majority reports (hat tip, Huffington Post) a source said the clothes are "in the process" of being donated. An RNC spokesman said Palin has, in fact, returned all the clothes, and they will be "inventoried and will be appropriately dispersed to various charities." Republican donors are furious and want to know when — and where — those clothes will be donated. The RNC has not, however, offered any concrete answers.

Thus, the sartorial scandal continues …

Tanja – The Executive Orders that President Obama has signed this week honor the promises he made during his campaign for the Presidency. By signing orders to close the Guantanamo Bay detention center, shut down secret overseas CIA prisons, review military war crimes trials and ban the harshest interrogation methods, President Obama has kept his promises. Today he issued an Executive Order that repealed the Global Gag Rule, which prohibited family planning programs in nations receiving US aid from using non-US monies for abortion counseling, advocacy, and referrals. It inhibited women worldwide from access to gynecological exams, AIDS prevention and treatment, and contraceptive options. It also halted shipment of condoms and contraceptives to more than 20 countries. Obama’s issuing of these recent Executive Orders reversed the Bush administration’s orders that have created ethical, moral and legal violations to this country’s constitution. It may take several more Executive Orders to undo the heinous injustices Bush committed as President. Our current President promised to right these wrongs and that is exactly what he is proceeding to do. These are some of the reasons I and the majority of voters in this country put President Obama in office. The point is not the numbers of Executive Orders that President Obama will issue in the coming months but the intent and content of each one. In an earlier post you wrote, “Executive orders happens (sic) when it’s the last resort.” Please cite your references here. In no definition, description, or example I have read of “Executive Orders” did I find any wording to suggest what you say is true. President Obama has issued Executive Orders not as “last resort” but to right the wrongs done by his predecessor, and I find this not “rather interesting” but absolutely imperative if we are to regain our self-respect and our standing as one of the world’s true democracies. You have a good weekend, too.

Don’t deal with if’s, deal with facts. Well come to that hurdle when and IF it happens.

I think Fox news does a diservice by providing their facts. Such as Glenn Beck saying Obama is the only president to be sworn in not using a bible. Say What!! By the way there are presidents who were sworn in without a bible.

The problem with Fox is that they do not provide facts. They list in the direction of sensationalism.

Christy, you’re very clear about where you are coming from. My remark about Fox news is accurate. Fox just create “facts”- like saying that President Obama was the only President to be sworn in without his hand on a bible. If you are happy being fed these sorts of lies, then you have every right to gobble them up.

I think some of you are being way to hard on Gov.Palin. Governor Palin’s record of achievement is huge. Even with all of the world’s media spreading lies and half truths, she remains the most popular Governor in America. here are a few snippets of her 16 years as a public servant. Governor Sarah Palin made history on Dec. 4, 2006, when she took office. As the 11th governor of Alaska, as the first woman to hold that office, she has been a leader: Sarah invested $5 billion in state savings, overhauled education funding, and implemented the Senior Benefits Program that provides support for low-income older Alaskans. Sarah Created Alaska’s Petroleum Systems Integrity Office Sarah Created Climate Change Subcabinet for Alaska. Sarah Overhauled the state’s ethics laws Sarah Developed a competitive process to construct a gas pipeline.Sarah Sarah Chaired the National Governor’s Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee, Sarah Served two terms on the City Council and two terms as the mayor/manager of Wasilla, Alaska. Sarah Chaired the Alaska Conservation Commission. Sarah Presided over the Alaska Conference of Mayors. Chairman of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multi-state government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment. Something else that people overlook, and this is key: Governor Palin is Commander-in-Chief of the only National Guard that is on permanent deployment. The 176th Wing, of the Alaska Air National Guard train with and is part of the United States Air Force. They are vital to our air defenses, and are the first line of defense should Russia, North Korea, or China decide they want to become aggressive. Recently, the 176th Wing was awarded for it’s actions. It escorted 22 Russian Bear bombers out of US airspace. I’m sure you’ve read that Russia is flying the Bear again, and seeing what they can get away with. The award was for much more tough. She also commands the 49th Missile Defense Battalion, which is the missile defense for all of North America in the Pacific. As Governor Palin’s position as CIC is rather unique, she receives regular briefings from Homeland Security, as well as other agencies. Govern Palin has a rather high security clearance as well. Something neither Obama nor Biden had prior to their win. Governor Palin also has extensive foreign trade experience. Governors, that have something to export, routinely meet with foreign heads of state and work on extensive trade agreements. Again, something Obama, Biden, and McCain have zero experience at.

Let’s stick with the facts. Palin has never met with a head of state (http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/Story?id=5782924) as she said in this interview. (She claims that it is not unusual for a VP candidate to not have done so, despite the fact that she is the first one in roughly three decades who has not). McCain, Obama and Biden had all met a foreign head of state prior to the election. The 176th wing of the Alaska Air National Guard might be doing some great work, but Palin is not directly commanding them. Her position as commander in chief is mostly honorary in that she is not making the military decisions. As for being popular, that is slipping as well (http://www.thealaskastandard.com/?q=node/232) now that she does not have the increased cost of oil to kick back money to the citizens of the state of Alaska.

Thanks R.J.B. Reed NO Governor makes Federal military deployment decisions. A Governor may dispatch the National Guard for disaster relief within the state.
