Palin's Pricey Clothes Sitting Pretty at GOP HQ

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Remember Sarah Palin’s pricey campaign threads? You know, the ones that cost an estimated $180,000, caused a political headache and that, she and John McCain’s camp said, would be given to charity?

Well, they’ve yet to find a new home and are currently stuffed in trash bags at the Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington. The New Majority reports (hat tip, Huffington Post) a source said the clothes are "in the process" of being donated. An RNC spokesman said Palin has, in fact, returned all the clothes, and they will be "inventoried and will be appropriately dispersed to various charities." Republican donors are furious and want to know when — and where — those clothes will be donated. The RNC has not, however, offered any concrete answers.

Thus, the sartorial scandal continues …

Why the sarcasm? You make it sound like Obama had a choice between having an inauguration party and moving the people out of their FEMA trailers, which is not the case. Until the inauguration, he couldn’t *do* anything. Now that he’s president he can do something, and given his statements I believe that this is high on his priority list. Personally I think the party did a lot of good by energizing people. One of the biggest problems we face in our current economy is the negative feedback loop. People are afraid, so they don’t spend money which means businesses lose money so they fire people (or go out of business) which causes people to be more afraid and so on. But if this party breaks the cycle, even a little, it will more than pay for itself if we want to look at it from a strictly finacial point of view.

Well considering some of your previous posts re: Katrina, I’m surprised you even care about the folks living in Fema trailers.

SJ—The people that made the furor in the first place were Republican donors who didn’t want their $$ spent at Neiman Marcus. That should be private money. “What does it matter to you Dems?’ Why did it matter what Edwards haircut cost….it was HIS money? T

Yes, & what about the 170 million spent on the inaugaration. Bush & clinton only spent in the 40 million each time. Now that is a real issue

I don’t understand the complaints about ‘How much was spent on the Inauguration’…… People make statements inffering that the money was just flushed down a toilet or something………… The money, (no matter how much) was used to pay workers…………tradespeople to build Stands etc Money was spent to buy Food………….wages for cooks, food suppliers……….farmers who grew the food Clothing industry……….my Gosh I could go on and on…………Get with it people. All this money was put back into cirulation and helps our economy. It would be interesting to know how many Millions of dollars were spent just by the people who came to Washington DC for the Inauguration. Another Boon to our economy…………Hotels………Airlines……….buses……..trains……..personal vehicles resturants……..novelty’s (sold) fuel………again I could go on and on. The only place I’ve ever known Huge amounts of money to just disappear into the AIR…or so it seems was the Millions upon millions in Iraq.

Robert, this inauguration was very special because it proved that in America anyone can rise to the top. Yes, it was exorbitant but we can be forgiven for excessive celebration. Now, however, we must look to the future with no excuses. We must be united as Americans to face the future. If it made millions of Americans proud of their country for the first time then it was worth it. That was yesterday. Faith in America cannot be based on momentary or conditional thing. Today, however, we look beyond this extravagant inauguration to face serious challenges that make the inauguration costs pale in comparison.

Was it worth it RNC? Look at the controversy these purchases caused. In 2012 when it’s time to roll out your next candidate…….think before you act on an idea.

Those who disrespect Sarah Palin are only disrespecting themselves. If there were a compilation (and there may be somewhere) of all the unprecedented vitriolic slander directed at this absolutely charming intelligent and RESPECTFUL woman, it would deserve a place of honor in a Hall Of Shame. I have come to the conclusion that certain types of people need scapegoats and sacrificial victims to satisfy some kind of atavistic sadism that compels them to attack what is beautiful and good. Any NORMAL human being, would be able to see that Sarah Palin is a Queen among women and among politicians, and agree or disagree with her policies and positions, afford the high respect that is her DUE, that she DESERVES, for her honest work on behalf of the American People and her lifelong efforts to live in a loving, intelligent and moral life..

Christy- You go that right. There are those who even disrespect those who like Gov. Palin. Gov. Palin is only 44 years of age and she was a Mayor, Governor and the first female vice-presidential nominee of the Republican Party. That’s impressive and has done more than Hillary did at her age. She’s done a lot more than I have and I am not jealous of it. I am proud of her. Gov. Palin illustrates a strong feminist who is beautiful inside and out with a career and a family. Those who respect themselves and have a full life would not conduct themselves with the unprecedented vitrolic slander towards Gov. Palin or anyone for that matter. Take care Christy.

Christy, the above article is not disrespectful of Gov Palin. At the time of the clothing purchase, I blamed Gov Palin for being greedy. In the months since, I’ve changed my mind about the blame for this. Gov Palin did what she was supposed to with the clothes. She gave them back. The real disgrace is the RNC. I don’t think Gov Palin could have bought the clothes without the permission of her ‘handlers’. They knew better. Then the RNC made such a huge deal of going to her house to get the clothes and to look through her closets to make sure she didn’t keep anything. Since then, the RNC has done nothing to follow up. The clothes should not be a public issue any more. I don’t blame the RNC Donors for demanding answers.

Also… I consider myself to be a fairly ‘normal’ human being, but I don’t see her as a ‘Queen’ among women. No disrespect intended.

RESPECTFUL woman?? This is the woman who called one part of the country “real Americans”… who made fun of the nobel profession of Community Organizer… who encouraged and allowed the people at her rally’s to chant racist garbage. Your definition of “respectful” must come out of a different dictionary than the one I use.

You call making a statement that put down Community Organizers “respectful”? She lost a lot of votes that night.
