Ann Coulter's Birthday Wish for Bush (and a Michael-Moore-Free Definition of Patriotism)

By Ann Coulter
Being really proud of America whether your husband is running for president or not. You know how Michael Moore feels about America? It’s the exact opposite of that.

In response to "Sunday is President George W. Bush’s birthday. On this 4th of July, do you have any special birthday wishes for him?"

Thanks for not letting Muslim terrorists kill me this past seven-and-a-half years. I owe you one, big guy. Don’t think of it as getting older; think of it as your birthday cake’s carbon footprint getting bigger!

Click here to read birthday wishes for the president from Sheila Nevins, Marlo Thomas and more.

Editor’s Note: Ann Coulter is a political commentator, syndicated columnist and best-selling author. Her latest book is If Democrats Had Any Brains, They’d Be Republicans.

There is just no way to reply to Anne Coulters comments except by being horribly rude!

With all respect, Sandra, there are other ways to reply to Ms. Coulter’s comments. Saying that you feel angry because you disagree with her positions, or the way she expresses them, is an example.

Frankly, Kitty, I dont think I will waste one more minute on Miss Coulter’s comments. Having read the myriad of replies from one and all, express my feelings in many ways. I just do not think she is worth commenting on, she does not feature in my life at all, nor will she ever.

To quote our sister Beth, then, peace and grace, Sandra. Thank you for your opinion.

Sandra, since one of our above-the-folders is Ms. Manners, we are all trying mightily to master this skill of saying what we mean without upsetting Ms. Manners too badly. An example of skillful, polite communication might be, “Ms. Coulter, I was surprised and saddened when I read that you said to Pres. Bush, “Thanks for not letting Muslim terrorists kill me this past seven-and-a-half years,” because my story is that any self-respecting Muslim wouldn’t waste his or her life on trying to kill someone so totally insignificant; so my request in future is that you GET A GRIP, FOR CHRISSAKES!!!! And it is certainly not worth spending my great-grandchildren’s future to give you the illusion of safety from whatever demons are lurking under your bed!” Oops, Ms. Robinson, excuse me, perhaps I’m not the right person to be helping you with this….

Mugsy, It is so absolutely wonderful to have you back posting and in rare form as well. You have been missed! Hope you are feeling better. Throughout the thread we have talked a lot about free speech and how AC should not be censored. Don’t each one of our “Rights” have an equally important reponsibility-some even delineated by the law. Incitement and that sort of thing. What do you think?

Well Mugsy, there you are, you have taken the thoughts right out of my mouth, thank you so much for helping me with this.

Most welcome, Ms. Robinson….

Ouch! Not above the fold, by any means. Rather, listening to a lively debate about free speech. Since I’m a proponent, that includes your right to call me names, although I’ll admit I don’t like it.

Kitty, When I said Mugsy was on a roll, I didn’t think she was talking about you. I just thought that she made a funny joke. That is all, I thought she was talking about one of the founders, but wasn’t sure which, but when you thought it was you, then I didn’t know, because I didn’t know if you two had any other exchanges. Can’t keep track of everything on this site. Anyway, you guys are both cool to me.

Logically then, the only way to defend her against such rude comments is tit for tat. We are presuming your comments were made rationally and logically, where mine were supposedly belligerent?
