Ann Coulter's Birthday Wish for Bush (and a Michael-Moore-Free Definition of Patriotism)

By Ann Coulter
Being really proud of America whether your husband is running for president or not. You know how Michael Moore feels about America? It’s the exact opposite of that.

In response to "Sunday is President George W. Bush’s birthday. On this 4th of July, do you have any special birthday wishes for him?"

Thanks for not letting Muslim terrorists kill me this past seven-and-a-half years. I owe you one, big guy. Don’t think of it as getting older; think of it as your birthday cake’s carbon footprint getting bigger!

Click here to read birthday wishes for the president from Sheila Nevins, Marlo Thomas and more.

Editor’s Note: Ann Coulter is a political commentator, syndicated columnist and best-selling author. Her latest book is If Democrats Had Any Brains, They’d Be Republicans.

It is snide to laugh, and dishonest not to speak the truth that Coulter traffics in slime for profit and that belittles America, and what journalism should be about. Our Founding Fathers would find her an abomination, because she is. The difference from then to now is that they tarred and feathered or otherwise got rid of her kind.

Kitty, I think you are right that is the only thing to do. Years ago someone emailed me one of her articles and they thought she was very smart. She is smart, but I couldn’t read it because it was so full of snarky put downs. Worst than High School. After that I didn’t read her. Would listen to her at times because, regardless of her flaming right wingedness, she still has some insight. Then I realized that every time I got mad at her I was just giving her the power that she wanted. I stepped back and kind of looked at it and laughed. She is far to put downish for my tastes, to me that is a waste of time. But she is not stupid. I don’t have a problem, I can laugh. Being angry at her gives her your power.

What on earth is wrong with you people? This woman makes her living spreading vitriol. I’m taking my business elsewhere today.

Maurine H, Don’t go!! It’s our loss if you go. Frannie is right she wins if we let her hijack this site for the purposes of spreading her vitriol. Maybe we should ignore this thread. i am sure they were trying to get things going.

I agree with you Maurine…the idea that she has any legitimacy and belongs on any decent site is abhorrent. Peggy N. is someone who I may not be on the same side with politically, but she is an easy person to admire and respect. Coulter—never.

I am surprised to find Ann Coulter as a guest at wOw. I guess not all women are welcomed here as shown by the comments made so far. Ann Coulter is controversial and she is outspoken. I cannot help but think if she used her talents for the other political party, she would then be haled here as not only witty and sassy but insightful, intelligent and worthy…..perhaps in the mode of a Molly Ivens or an Ann Richards, both irreverent and intelligent.

Hi Bonnie, Seems that Ann is one of those “high emotion” producing people - like Hillary Clinton and Susan Atkins. This site, as we’ve discussed before, would be very boring if we all agreed, and if you find Ann to be irreverent and intelligent, you have every right to your opinion.

To paraphrase: “…I loved Molly Ivens, Molly Ivens was an idol of mine, and Ms. Coulter, you’re no Molly Ivens!”
