Ann Coulter's Birthday Wish for Bush (and a Michael-Moore-Free Definition of Patriotism)

By Ann Coulter
Being really proud of America whether your husband is running for president or not. You know how Michael Moore feels about America? It’s the exact opposite of that.

In response to "Sunday is President George W. Bush’s birthday. On this 4th of July, do you have any special birthday wishes for him?"

Thanks for not letting Muslim terrorists kill me this past seven-and-a-half years. I owe you one, big guy. Don’t think of it as getting older; think of it as your birthday cake’s carbon footprint getting bigger!

Click here to read birthday wishes for the president from Sheila Nevins, Marlo Thomas and more.

Editor’s Note: Ann Coulter is a political commentator, syndicated columnist and best-selling author. Her latest book is If Democrats Had Any Brains, They’d Be Republicans.

I loved both Molly Ivins and Ann Richards. I still miss them. Ann Coulter is not even close to being in their league. Not enough class.

Depends upon your point of view, doesn’t it?

Not entirely. Read some of the vitriol she has spewed. Some of it is quoted in this column by Howard Kurtz: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/06/11/AR200606 In some circles she would seem to be well described as a terrorist. She is a cheerleader for violence against those she disagrees with. Really, I think Brian Williams nailed it when he asked her, “Have you no shame?” I think she doesn’t.

Josie, I enjoy your posts and exchanges with other posters. Always gives me a smile, when the subject has got my blood boiling-like this one. My prayers are with you and lots of positive thoughts. My Mom has MG back in the fifties and the meds were no picnic. Take care of yourself and keep posting. We need your thoughts.

Elisabeth- Thank you dear one! Is your mom still alive? If so, is she still on meds for the MG? If not, did MG contribute to her death?

Josie, No unfortunately she also had heart problems and died when I was fifteen. But I saw her struggle for awhile; thank goodness there are now better treatments and meds for so many of these awful things that attack our body. I enjoy your comments and hope you feel well and have a great weekend. Happy 4th!!

Elisabeth- oh dear, I know how that is. My mom died when I was 18. It’s just too young to lose your mom! I miss her and so wish she could have known me as an adult.

Josie, I wish she could have known you as an adult too. She would have been pleased, your art and your gorilla hugs are pretty special

Bonnie, you had a point on the table about the pregnancy pact at a Massachusetts high school. I was away and never got back to you. For that you have my apologies…………..no response often appears rude, like someone walked away in the middle of the conversation. Not the case here. As for Ann Coulter, for way too long she could not complete a column without some reference to Monica Lewinski; she appearedto be obsessed with keeping the story going on and on and on. Coulter seems mean-spirited, rather than clever, but I always read her column for exercise: jumping to conclusions.) I can understand your insight, and maybe my loyalty is missplaced, but for political analysis and wit, there is no one who can hold a candle to Molly Ivins, in my opinion. When an author I don’t particularly care for comes out with a new book, I borrow from the public library so that my money will not go to people like Coulter. Silly, maybe, but it works for me. In an election year in particular, I consider my obligation to be informed………..whether I like it or not. Peace and grace

I have a birthday wish for Ann Coulter but I don’t think that they will replace the monkey set to be sent to Mars.

However, possibly Russia would consider it to be a fair trade: http://www.universetoday.com/2008/04/14/russia-to-send-monkeys-to-mars/
