Ann Coulter's Birthday Wish for Bush (and a Michael-Moore-Free Definition of Patriotism)

By Ann Coulter
Being really proud of America whether your husband is running for president or not. You know how Michael Moore feels about America? It’s the exact opposite of that.

In response to "Sunday is President George W. Bush’s birthday. On this 4th of July, do you have any special birthday wishes for him?"

Thanks for not letting Muslim terrorists kill me this past seven-and-a-half years. I owe you one, big guy. Don’t think of it as getting older; think of it as your birthday cake’s carbon footprint getting bigger!

Click here to read birthday wishes for the president from Sheila Nevins, Marlo Thomas and more.

Editor’s Note: Ann Coulter is a political commentator, syndicated columnist and best-selling author. Her latest book is If Democrats Had Any Brains, They’d Be Republicans.

Phyllis- has anyone told you that they love you today? Well I do! I love reading your posts along with so many others but you are in my top ten! You are pronktastic! Now, let’s work on getting this woman to Russia for a long ride.

YOU did! Love back to ya and let’s use that Susie (isn’t that what they called us?-ugh) spirit and get those plane tickets in gear.

Ok, Phyllis- I’ve booked a one way ticket for Ms. Coulter to St. Petersburg, Russia. From there the Russian cosmonauts will pick her up and make the monkey exchange. The password is skanky! I had to explain to the Russians the meaning of that word. They couldn’t have agreed more! So here’s to saving another monkey! Ok, now you have to call her and tell her that she won a fabulous trip for one to see Russia from above. Can you do it my darling? If you chose to accept this mission….. this message will self destruct in 10 seconds……fizzzzzzzle.

Sad, how people who object so much to her brand of vitriol with the same kind of intolerant, sniping, snarky comments. If we want to remove that type of discourse from the public dialog shouldn’t we engage in a higher level of civility ourselves? Take a second look, and try to consider the essence of what she said. We should love our country all the time, and she’s grateful that there have been no more terrorist attacks. Well, fine then. That she said those things in such a way as to intentionally get knee-jerk reactions is the problem, and you all just gave her exactly the thing she thrives on.

Dorothy- I agree that she feeds off of comments such as the ones mentioned…. and we feed off of her reputation as an a#@ h*#e. So, I for one will stop monkeying around and go do some art about it.

Sad that we people object so much to her vitriol? No, sirree!!!!!! We are voicing our very strong opinions with a modicum of civility, unlike Ms Coulter who spews venom like heavy rains. True love of country means looking at it clearly and criticizing it when it falls short so the “we SHOULD love our country all the time” is blind faith which is what gave us the Bush administration for all these eight years.

Yes Phyllis you’re right and I get so annoyed with people who think we should honor the office of the Presidency regardless of who is in it. Patriotism is loving your country enough to speak out against things you believe are being done to dishonor it and Bush has done nothing but dishonor this country, it’s people, and it’s constitution. I wonder if these same people who think we should respect and honor Bush just because he’s the president think all of those people in North Korea are right to honer and respect their leader, or better yet how about all those Iraqi’s that had Sadaam for a leader? Just because someone is the leader of a nation doesn’t mean they deserver honor or respect.

Phyllis, Sherrie, I think perhaps you mistake my intent. I can’t stand that woman. She’s not worth my time, and I doubt she’s worth yours. We’re better than that.
