Another female may be heading to Washington

The Associated Press is reporting that Barack Obama’s transition team has asked Patti Solis Doyle to be the cabinet secretary. Doyle, 43, was Hillary Clinton’s former aide and close friend until a shake up in February led to Doyle getting fired. In June, Obama’s campaign hired Doyle to serve as Joe Biden’s chief of staff. According to unnamed sources, reported by the AP, Doyle is "considering" the position — which involves co-ordinating the efforts of cabinet-level agencies and the White House — but "worries about the effect it would have on her two young children."

Another Chicago connection. Solis-Doyle has a 20 year relationship with David Axelrod, she used to work for Richard Daley and her brother is a Chicago alderman. In addition, Steve Clemons, over at the Washington Note reported back in March: Patti Solis Doyle allegedly bred a lot of ill will inside the campaign among staffers. Many Clinton aides talked about how she had a wall erected between herself and the rest of the campaign staff in Iowa. Others who had been around for Hillary Clinton’s Senate campaign talked about how Patti Solis Doyle had shut down the campaign office for two full days in order to watch the collected DVD set of “Grey’s Anatomy.” I’m not kidding. On top of those clear failures, she also horribly mismanaged the Clinton campaign financially. (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/22/us/politics/22clinton.html?_r=2&hp=&pa…) I’m more worried about her ability to do the job.

Another Clinton Administration appointee! Where is the CHANGE? Where is the “bring new faces to Washington? Where is “We’re going to CHANGE Washington? So much for “I’m going to reach across the aisle”. So far, with the transition team (all Clinton people) and, now, the appointments (all Clinton people) this NEW change is looking like the OLD Clinton Administration period. Beginning to look like a Clinton family reunion! So much for a “new wind” in Washington. Judging from the above the President Elect seems to be happy with the status quo — not in change! These are the same old Washngton hacks and the same administration he criticized when he ran against Hillary in the primaries. Obama based his campaign on convincing the American people that he was committed to changing that status quo — I give up.

Oh, I forgot — Is “socks” the cat still alive? If the Obama’s want a pet for the girls — why not throw in the old Clinton kitty?

If the statement was made to the Press, that she was worried about how this job would affect her children, then she should not accept it. If she were expecting an offer to Wahington, she would have prepared for it—-apparently she did not prepare, with expectation that she would actually accept. Perhaps she was hired by the Obama campaign because of what she knew, from the Hillary campaign, that would be helpfull —referring to Axelrods’ thinking. Perhaps she was offered a position as a courtesy, with expectation that she would not accept….who knows….but my gut reaction to this article was that she did not want to accept.
