Patti Blagojevich's Potty Mouth Involving Her Gov-Hubby Scandal (Transcript)

Patti Blagojevich and her husband, Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, may have been in bed together in the alleged massive political scandal that he was arrested for this morning. According to the 76-page indictment for her governor husband, the feds set wiretaps on Blagojevich’s home and office phones. On the tapes, Patricia was recorded using expletive words about a deal the Tribune newspaper company wanted on behalf of the Cubs baseball team. The Sun-Times reports:

Nov. 3: Tells deputy governor he was worried about being impeached in the Spring says Tribune will be "driving” the process. In later call, wife Patti Blagojevich can allegedly be heard in the background saying, "hold up that f- - -ing Cubs shit … F- - - them.” Gov say they should tell Tribune "we’re doing this stuff for you, we believe this is right for Illinois, this is a big deal financially.” Also says to tell Trib, "maybe we can’t do this now. Fire those f- - -ers.” In another conversation with a former adviser, gov says he plans to tell the owner of the Tribune that he will not help him fix up Wrigley Field because the Trib’s editorial board will argue he be impeached for doing so.

Nov. 4: Tells deputy governor to tell Tribune, "fire all those [expletive] people, get ‘em the [expletive] out of there and get us some editorial support.”

Nov. 11: Says "that’s fantastic” after adviser says the Tribune owner "got the message” and could target the editorial section in upcoming budget cuts.

Gov. Blagojevich has been accused of withholding state assistance from Sam Zell’s Tribune Co., which owns the Chicago Tribune, when they were trying to buy Wrigley Field. In exchange for the funds, Blagojevich allegedly asked for critical editors to be sacked. The most eye-popping accusation, however, is that the governor stands accused of shopping around for money in exchange for President-elect Obama’s Senate seat, which Blagojevich has the power to fill.

Unbelievable. Except it’s not. How did this guy get elected?

He got elected after the last governor (R) George Ryan left office in a corruption scandal which led to him being in prison at the moment. Blagojevich promised reform and in many ways gave it, with huge improvements of our tollways and especially, the KidCare comprehensive health insurance program. However, his first term was filled with accusations of wrongdoing and infighting between him and the Legislature. But he was elected to a second term because the alternative, Republican Judy Barr Topinka, was immeshed in the George Ryan corruption, and just presented another corrupt alternative, but one that vowed to take away the funding of KidCare and other programs that many people in Illinois had grown to love and depend upon. So the people of Illinois decided to go with the corrupt politician who seemed to at least lean towards helping the average people instead of just big business like the Republicans had.

There you are! I’ve been waiting all day for you to weigh in on all this. Thanks for the inside scoop. Do you think Obama decided the only way to clean up Illinois is from the White House? Sound pretty scary all the way around. Give the little people what they can’t live without and hold the big boys for ransom. I heard on the Newhour tonight that he’ll still be running the state in spite of all this. That’s hard to believe! What have you heard?

I heard that State Senate President Emil Jones and Senator Dick Durbin are calling for an emergency meeting of the legislature to take away the governor’s power to appoint a Senator and to call for a special election to replace Obama’s Senate seat. State Att’y Gen’l Lisa Madigan and Rep. Jan Schakowsky have both called for Blagojevich to resign or else they believe impeachment proceedings should be started. I can’t imagine the guy resigning… I really think he has some psychological delusions of grandeur or something! Schakowsky said this about his “craziness”: “I think, perhaps, [crazy] is sort of a clinically appropriate word,” she said of Blagojevich, who allegedly sought to reap massive financial rewards from candidates vying for Obama’s seat. “If you think about it, this individual who was still willing to entertain the notion of himself as Secretary of Health and Human Services or being a candidate 2016. There is something not right there … It is absolutely so fanciful or delusional and individual. It’s not representative of, ‘well here are the rules.’ It is not, in fact, the way most political people would handle a serious situation.”

Deburca - I have a psych degree and 15 years experience working with criminal offenders and i’d say you hit that nail directly on the head. In clinical terms it’s called “nuts”. lol

Check this out too: Rep. Jan Schakowsky just put out the following statement, which urges the governor to resign and the legislature to impeach him if he refuses to do so: “This is a sad day for the people of Illinois. The charges against Governor Blagojevich are very serious and damaging. It is in the best interest of the State of Illinois that Governor Blagojevich resign from office immediately. If he does not resign, the state legislature should reconvene for a special session immediately and begin impeachment proceedings against Governor Blagojevich. I have already called the Illinois Speaker of the House, Michael Madigan, and Illinois State Senate President, Emil Jones, to ask them to come back into session to begin impeachment proceedings.” Attorney General Lisa Madigan echoes that sentiment in her own release: “Public officials are elected to serve the people of this state and to uphold the trust of the people who have elected them. It is absolutely clear that the Governor is incapable of governing. At a time when our state faces tremendous challenges, Governor Blagojevich cannot faithfully exercise the powers of his office. Governor Blagojevich should immediately resign and allow Lt. Governor Quinn to succeed him.”

Cool! This all sounds promising. The other think they said on the Newshour was that the Lt. Governor ran on a “different ticket” than Blagoyevich. How does that happen? Is he or she even a democrat?

Illinois Lt. Governor Pat Quinn is a Democrat. I think what they mean by Quinn running on a different ticket is that in Illinois, during the Primary the Lt. Governor and the Governor run on seperate tickets, but then in the general election they are joined together on the same ticket.

I don’t know why I am not surprised by this story/allegation. Politics and politicians these days require our scrunity. What gets my attention is that this story precedes Pres Elect Obama’s inaugration. I am, gravely concerned that the “they”, “them” will attempt to defame/damage him based on stories like this or hurt him. I am not feeling good aboit this.

They” of course will do their best to use this against Obama. But this isn’t about Obama, it’s about Blagojevich.

You are just sweet as you can be to respond like this. What do we know about Pat Quinn? And what kind of strings can “they” pull to associate Obama… Was Blagojevich visible at all during the campaign, or associated with the Democratic presidential primaries? Did he go to the recent governors’ conference? Heaven help us if this blows up while Obama’s still operating out of Chicago.

I didn’t really know much about Quinn before this happened. Apparently he is not close to Blagojevich, he is a Populist and known to be a “rabble rouser” whatever is meant by that! I think Obama was very careful to stay far away from Blagojevich during the campaign as well as during his time in the Senate. There have been investigations of the governor going on for years now. I do know that Blagojevich did not even go to the Democratic Convention in August, and that was a big embarrassment for him, he had to make some lame excuse as to why he wasn’t there. I don’t know if he went to the governors’ conference.
