Is the Beloved Paul Newman Terminally Ill?

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

The Internet is lighting up today with concern for the health of screen legend Paul Newman. The 83-year old actor, one of the most important Hollywood actors of his generation, was photographed on Friday in a wheelchair leaving a New York cancer hospital. United Press International, as well as the Los Angeles Times and U.K.’s Daily Mail, are reporting that he has only weeks to live.

Recent photographs show him looking gaunt, and in May ‘08 he dropped out of his stage directorial debut with the Westport Country Playhouse, citing health concerns.

In addition to a film career that spans more than 50 years, Newman is the philanthropic entrepreneur behind the Newman’s Own line of foods. Profits from the sales of these products go to charity; by 2006, more than $200 million dollars were donated by the company.

Paul Newman is such a private person; I do hope that the media leave him and his family alone. We all hope for the best; we all hope that he is well or at least will be well, but just leave him alone.

My thoughts and Prayers to Paul Newman…I remember watching him most of my life and he was always a very handsome man with grace and poise.

Find something else to talk about, please. Leave these wonderful people in peace.

I was allowed to leave St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Rapids (June), and Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo (July) without a wheel chair. I suspect he’s in grave health.

James, most hospitals require people to leave in wheelchairs for insurance purposes.

They made me walk back and forth 6 times with a walker at Bronson, before I could leave on my own two feet. St. Mary’s practically threw me out the window! Ha!

I’m with Mugsy, let’s hope that everyone leaves these people in peace.

As if the public would know whether or not Mr. Newman is terminally ill. Just another clever choice of topics to attract posts and advertisers. What a poor choice. But it worked.

Yeah, I don’t know why they put the “Posts” in question form, as if the people who visit this site would have personal access to Newman’s hospital room or something.

Hi James, I just think that speculating about the state of someone’s health is unkind. To cause a sensation like this, at Mr. Newman’s expense, is in poor taste.

He’s a beautiful man and a beautiful human being. He’s also a very private man, so I hope the media is respectful and leaves him and his family alone.

I wish him peace in all his choices and thank him for all he has done. If he is too leave, those beautiful blue eyes will not be forgotten. His union with Joanne has seemed to be unique in Hollywood. Definitely a favorite of mine.

As a teenager I saw him in Cool Hand Luke, and Hud. I was amazed even then with his talent and his good looks. Those two things seldom go together in Hollywood. But when he began his philanthropic work with his company Newman’s Own I began to see him in another light. His multifaceted life and personality put many young stars who indulge to shame. He is an icon - and a good looking one too!

He and Joanne are proof that a Hollywood couple can have a long, beautiful and productive marriage. Marriages that last two months or two years seem accepted as the norm in Hollywood, so much so, that the public forgets who the real stars are and always will be.

Well, except they live in Connecticut.
