Does mother truly know best? If you think "yes," what do you think about one who encouraged her son to date a Penthouse Pet of the Year?

That’s exactly what happened on the season finale of the reality dating show "Momma’s Boys." During last night’s episode, loving mother Lorraine Sarysz-Nichols suggested her firefighter son Michael pursue one Erica Ellyson — rather than go steady with a medical school student, whom he also fancied. Sarsyz-Nichols even described Ms. Ellyson as "wholesome," so imagine her surprise when Ellyson revealed her spicy past. Michael eventually chose the nurse, Amanda. That’s a wise choice, we’re sure, although Ellyson used her MySpace profile to say she’s cleaning up her act:

I am a model, or you can call me an adult model, nude model, glamour model (not a porn star, just have to make that clear) either way im a model ;) I also want to add that I NO LONGER MODEL NUDE … I will one day go back to college and finish the two paths that I have already started for myself … I hope to become an architect or a nurse.

Here’s a little about "Momma’s Boys." NBC brought together 32 single women (some classy and some brassy) and moved them into a mansion so they could vie for the attention of three eligible bachelors. The men’s mothers also moved in to help with the sons’ decisions. The show’s supposed to reveal the impact a mother’s wishes have on a young man’s life. In this instance, however, mother dearest’s demands did not make a difference.

We obviously wondered whether the show’s producers knew about Ellyson’s salacious past. Of course they did! That’s what makes good television, said Executive Producer Andrew Glassman in a statement:

Erica chooses to keep her adult modeling career a secret from the moms in the hopes of having a fair chance with them and the sons. The moms will come to know her as the ‘girl next door’ first and foremost, and the question becomes what happens when her past catches up to her, and what will her potential mother-in-law do if and when she finds out.
