Phil Spector Murder Trial Part 2 to Begin Today

And you thought you had heard the end of the Phil Spector second-degree murder trial.
The eccentric musical genius behind some of rock ‘n’ roll’s biggest sounds will be in court once again today as he goes on trial for murder a second time.
Spector’s apparent one-night stand, actress Lana Clarkson, was found dead at Spector’s mansion five years ago. It’s been a year since the jury in his first murder trial failed to reach a verdict — although most favored conviction with a 10-2 vote — bringing a mistrial and now a retrial. AP reports that Spector’s new lawyer is hoping for an acquittal this time around, but prosecutors think they’ve got a conviction in the bag.
The story goes something like this: Spector went out on the town one night, met a beautiful blonde actress working as a club hostess at the House of Blues and took her home. In the early hours of the morning of February 3, 2003, she wound up dead in the grand foyer of his home, a gunshot through her mouth.
The defense, in the first trial, argued that Clarkson, 40, killed herself because she was upset over her career – or lack thereof. Prosecutors argued that she resisted Spector’s sexual advances and he shot her.
Included among those scheduled to testify is Spector’s chauffer, who says he heard a shot and saw his boss emerge from the house with a gun saying, "I think I killed somebody."
The jury includes a research scientist, an Army veteran and a social worker once assigned to a psychiatric ward.
