Porn Star Stormy Daniels to Run Against Hooker-Using Sen. David Vitter

Louisiana Sen. David Vitter could be facing an election contest rich in irony. You remember Vitter, right? He’s the ultra-conservative Republican who admitted to using the services of a D.C. prostitution service. There was never an investigation and all was forgiven.

But now, thanks to a group called DraftStormy.com, he faces a potential primary challenge from a beautiful blonde porn star, Stormy Daniels. Stormy was recruited via a Craigslist ad seeking "a female in some aspect of the adult-entertainment industry," just so no one would forget the scandalous past Vitter has been working so hard to sweep under the rug.

Before you judge Daniels by her past and looks, know this: She’s actually very articulate. The Baton Rouge native was editor of her high school newspaper and has won awards for directing porn films. She shows off a sense of humor in an interview with The Daily Beast, telling them that she may take on Vitter because he’s a hypocrite, and she says she’d be happy to debate him, but if that doesn’t work, “I’d be happy to wrestle him." As for a campaign slogan, she’s got a good one planned: "Stormy Daniels: Screwing People Honestly."

This sounds like it will be a very “informative” campaign

There was a time in our country when people ran for office because they genuinely wanted to make a difference. They wanted to have an impact on their community or the nation. Now it seems it’s a joke to everyone. It’s a punch line…..a form of entertainment. I think it’s sad. But then again in stark contrast, men like Barack Obama, women like Hillary Clinton remind me there are still some politicians that are in it for real reasons.

I might be wrong…. but I dont think this has meant to be a joke….. although, I do think it is a stunt. When I read this, I thought that the whole point was to point out the hypocrisy of this senator getting a pass for breaking the law (going to prostitutes) and being able to keep his seat. I doubt she expects to win…. but Im pretty sure they expect to bring a bigger spotlight on Senator Vitter and what he has done. Wasnt he on the “DC Madam” list too?

I guess you and I see this differently Roger, you see it as a stunt, I say it is a joke. She isn’t entering the race to contribute to her community and make an impact. She is allowing herself to be used as a tool, a joke, attention grabber to yes….point out the hypocrisy of Senator Vitter. I have a novel idea, why not put a woman up against him that is a strong, confident, a knowledgeable person that can argue point by point against him AND address his issues with prostitutes? The voters in his area should be smart enough to understand and recognize his hypocrisy without the “stunt” as you say it is. I may be old fashioned, but in my mind the only reason anyone should run for office should be because they genuinely want to contribute and be of benefit to their surrounding community, state or nation. It should not be for money, fame, publicity or to be a human example of hypocrisy. But again, I guess I’m old fashioned.

Old fashioned can be good I have a novel idea, why not put a woman up against him that is a strong, confident, a knowledgeable person that can argue point by point against him AND address his issues with prostitutes? A very valid point…… thanks for making it.
