President Obama May Keep BlackBerry, and Gain Spy-Proof Sectéra Edge

Barack Obama may be making history yet again.
The nation’s first black president could also become the first commander in chief who gets to use a BlackBerry. Traditionally, presidents have shied away from using hi-tech gadgets — such as e-mail and mobile phone devices — for a variety of reasons. It’s not just because they may not understand how to work them — but also for security reasons. You see, ever since Richard Nixon and Watergate, any documents relating to the presidency and retained by the White House must be made available to the public, as part of the Presidential Records Act of 1978. However, that doesn’t include personal e-mails. You know, like who’s going to walk the dog or take Sasha and Malia to school.
In the past, we’ve seen President Obama typing away on his beloved BlackBerry 8830, and it just broke our hearts to know he would have his favorite toy pried from his hands. Nearly two weeks ago, The New York Times wrote a piece about the president’s attachment to the device and quoted him saying he hopes to win the battle with the Secret Service and keep his device. Rumor has it that he, indeed, defeated the suits.
According to the communication bloggers at Gizmodo, it looks like President Obama will be allowed to keep his beloved BlackBerry for "personal use," but only if he uses a bulkier, spy-proof cell phone called the Sectéra Edge for official business.
According to a tech guru from the Atlantic, the Edge is one of the most highly encrypted devices around at the moment, so we should all feel safe from any potential presidential hackings.
