In Quest to Look Young, People Turning to More Outlandish Procedures

Growing old can be frightening. That’s a fact.

While some cope with new shades of lipstick, perhaps a nip and a tuck or a change in diet, more and more people have been turning to a Las Vegas-based company called Cenegenics Medical Institute. With offices in elderly hot spots like Arizona and Boca Raton, Cenegenics and their experts in “age management” promise patients a younger appearance through a unique blend of exercise, diet and, yes, science.

In addition to taking adrenal hormones and testosterone, some patients are taking small levels of human growth hormone, which Cenegenics claims helps counter “hormone deficiency.” Others equate it simply with taking steroids, and the similarities have some worried. Though he can understand the desire to improve one’s image, Chicago-based Dr. Jonathan Lippitz laments that Cenegenics and such treatments are a “slippery slope.” If a patient sees positive results from the growth hormone, but finds himself bound by legal restrictions, they could end up looking for underground means by which to obtain their “life-enhancing” drugs.

Now, while we know this treatment’s meant to revive one’s youthfulness and keep them “up to speed” with younger rivals, this photo of Cenegenics originator Dr. Jeffry Life put us off a bit – he’s 69 years old, and has the body of a 30-year-old. We have no problem with 30-year-old bodies, of course, but this juxtaposition’s a bit too unsettling for our taste. Fighting aging’s all well and good, but do so gracefully – and try to keep it realistic!

Oh you young staffers of WOW, you ladies are so silly. I can hear you now…”it looks like grandpa with a hot bod!” LOL As for the founder’s body, speaking as a woman getting up there in age, it’s sexy to imagine you could be with a man of age (which I prefer, I’m not into men under the age of 50) that has a toned body. But the idea of growth hormones and testosterone….I’m not so sure about that. I would agree that they are essentially steroids and they have been proven to be detrimental on a physical as well as emotional standpoint.

Hi B…Even with tri-focals, hand-held magnifier and a couple of jumps on “make text bigger”, it still looks a litlle like….uh…do you call it “photo- shopped” ???

G.F., I’ve done a little research and it appears there is conflicting info on the photos being displayed of him. Most are stating the photo was taken in 1998 as a result of him winning some “fit body” contest. While other sites are saying it was taken 3 years ago when he was 67, he is now 70. But I will admit I agree with you, now that I’ve seen a close up of the pics, it does look photo-shopped. If it was, how dishonest eh?

well, consider this, times change—-many of our common food-additives are potent anti-oxidants—-been ‘piggin’ ‘em a long time—-they whup most ‘natural’ such—-people are staying younger, longer—-like Woody’s movie, he wakes up in ‘Sleeper’ to find ‘junk-food’ was ok—-i would not assume ‘editing’—-my only second, ‘one-night-stand’ a lady young enough to be a daughter—25—-kept asking what i paid for plastic surgery? not a bit—-‘beats me’—-

Photo shop, I am convinced. But, even so, why would anyone want to risk their health for some of these growth hormone treatments? It can’t be good for people to take. Besides, it’s not the outside of the package that makes the present. Gotta take off the paper and see what is inside. Anyone this self centered can’t be too interesting, know what I mean?

I think that picture is very creepy. That hot looking body with the old looking head. It has to be photo shopped. With all that testosterone, HGH and more he should have hair, and not gray hair either, plus, why the glasses? It makes little sense, but it seems to be working for him as far as drawing in clients who have the $$$ to pay for what he offers. It is all so medically dangerous, but seemingly not worrying those who believe in what he has to offer. I’ll bet he is majorly shallow and boring.

Lizzie great points now that I think about it. It’s not as if all the hormones and chemicals he has pumped in his blood stream would only affect him from the neck down. That is curious. There really are men 60+ that have great bodies, so it’s not a leap to say it could be true. But this guy….I smell con artist.

yeah, Anytime $$$ are involved? time to wake up and smell the fish—-oddly men Do retain youthful bodies vs. face—-we don’t take proper care, and have a lot more sun damage—-

You know at a certain age when people in general tell you that you are old there are things happening. Knees do not agree with you when you tell them to bend. Eyes are not responding to the prints which seem to become smaller and smaller. Shoes are not made to house bunions. The nose gets longer and the lips thinner ( so they tell me) but by golly did we not earn the laugh wrinkles? Did we not survive the worry lines? How many funerals have we attended? How many names are crossed out in our address book? We are here, we have a history, we lived history, if we are gorgeous and botoxed every line in our face we still are the same person inside. Unless you are in an industry where you need to earn your living by your looks then why not be who you are? I am comfortable with the person I see in mt bathroom mirror. This is who I am. Besides that I have very low light in the bathroom.
