Rachael Ray on the Record: How She'd Pose for FHM Again, and Defending Dunkin' Donuts

Rachael Ray, the perky cooking personality from Upstate New York, prefers PJs and slippers when having friends over for dinner, so what was she doing in lad mag FHM scantily clothed and making provocative gestures with strawberries and a spoon?

The Food Network star and daytime talk-show host admits she was originally hesitant about the 2003 shoot. "When FHM called, I thought it was ‘Food and Home.’ (It actually stands for ‘For Him Magazine.’) I didn’t even know what FHM was," she said. But when she saw that the magazine had many beautiful younger women gracing their pages, she knew she should do it.

"I thought if I’m gutsy enough to do this, this is a good thing for everybody," Ray said of being 35 and asked to pose, during an interview with wOw’s own Cynthia McFadden on ABC News’s "Nightline." "This is the everywoman, here she is. And I thought, what the heck? I asked my husband what he thought of it and he said, oh, kinda cool. And I did it and it was the most scared I’ve ever been and I wouldn’t change a thing. I’d do it again tomorrow."

Ray also talks to McFadden about the origin of "EVOO" — which any self-respecting Rachel Ray fan knows stands for "extra-virgin olive oil" — being comfortable with her success, how her 30-minute meals and other concoctions are perfect for those on a budget in this economic downturn, and how even she gets stains on her shirt in the kitchen.

And does she regret doing the Dunkin’ Donuts ads, especially after a star chef said that was like her "peddling crack to kids?" Not at all, she said, especially since the wildly popular chain is committed to offering healthier options like egg white sandwiches and trans-fat-free donuts.

"I’m an all-things-in-moderation kind of person," she said. "I do eat a warm donut occasionally. I especially enjoy a cider donut when I’m apple picking. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that."

Rachael seems like such a cool woman. I love the fact that she has a broad mind about topics that set so many women off. There are women who look down and insult women that choose to be featured in male magazines unjustly. The type of women who I label as taking women’s liberation to an extreme. Good for you Rachael!

There is nothing like having a great pix of yourself in your prime wearing something great looking (or not wearing it), posing provocatively with a  wink.  Now I feel like a Sherpei with enough skin to turn around in.  Rachael, you go girl.

Oops, it is Shar Pei and I thought I had misspelled it as soon as I saw the post.

I remember a man saying to me 40 years ago that a woman’s purpose in life is to have kids.  Talk about deja vu all over again.  Hey 4Life what about a man pleasuring a woman?  A lot of women give up on sex because their men are so inept.  And these men still think they are such hunks.  Sheesh.
