Rush Limbaugh Wonders Why He Can't Get More Women

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh announced this week that he’s toying with the idea of organizing a "women’s summit" to find out why more women don’t appreciate his patented point of view.
Limbaugh, who ruffled feathers recently when he said he hopes President Obama fails, was spurred by a Public Policy poll showing that only 37 percent of women — compared to 56 percent of men — have a favorable opinion of the shock jock. Thus, Limbaugh’s looking to close the gender gap. Transcript via Think Progress:
We’ll have a summit of all the women in this audience — or as many of them as we can get into breakout groups — and perhaps devote an hour in an upcoming program to calls only from women who genuinely want to talk to me … But I want some of these women to start telling me what it is I must do to close the gender gap — or, if not, what it is I must do to close the gender gap, what it is I’ve done that has caused the gender gap; assuming the gender gap is true and that the poll is true.
…
I own the men, and what must I do now to own women?
Well, Limbaugh, perhaps you could start wooing more women if you recant your oft-cited quote: "Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society."
As for men liking you, Rush — you may want to organize another summit to find out why some think you’re a fool. Take, for example, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, a Republican who insists anyone who wants the president to fail — like you said, Rush — is an "idiot."

"…can our country be in any worse shape?"
Yes, it can. And the next four years will show exactly how much worse….unless Obama "fails" to get the socialist policies he wants.
Fail, Obama, fail!
Uh, M? Have you read any of the other posts here which explain that Rush said he wanted Obama to fail in his attempt to socialize the country, socialism’s primary product being misery? If Obama’s desire were to bring Nazism to the US, would you still want him to succeed? Rush wants the US to thrive and for that to happen Obama must fail.
Context, M., context.
And you really need to be ashamed of yourself, not me, my friend.
What is truly going on here is that , while he won’t say so, his numbers are shrinking across the boards and he is looking for anything to gin them up.
He will never accept this but he blew it. His day is past, there was a time when he was entertaining whether you agreed with his point of view or not. I actually enjoyed him in the early ’90s. But when he became, along with Fox News, the mouthpiece of the Bush administration he became just another fat cat. (Sorry) Smoking his illegal Havanas, discussing his Superbowl seats, bragging about the people he knew while not admitting that he was being used by a bunch of crooks in silk suits.
If he didn’t know he was being used, he is not as smart as he thinks he is, and if he did know he was being used and enjoyed the access, he is a fool. Either way in this era of cutting back and making do, and conserving resources, his conspicuous consumption and grotesque braggadocio offends even the most right leaning American woman.
That is why he cannot "get" any smart American woman and must use his vast fortune to pay for access. He offends our delicate sensibilities.
What he’s really lacking is listeners who are sane and rational. Except for the relatively few who are of the "can’t help staring at the train wreck" variety, they’re all rapid, right wing, repug, radicals.
Being a female non limbaugh fan, I can tell you what he could do to make me like him more, (a little bit more).
He could shoot Ann Coulter in the head, (as she has no heart), in a public place, then hang himself.
Wow, Janet, I’m not a fan of either Coulter or Limgaugh, but don’t you think a statement like this is a little over the top?
When this site came into being, I was excited about having the chance to share views and ideas with people from all over the country. I believed that thoughtful discussions among people with different views would help us to become better equipped to live well in these challenging times. However, each time I visit the website and read the comments, I become more and more disillusioned about the possibility of sharing civil conversations with others participating on this site. I usually choose not to comment.
I understand your frustration with the views of Coulter and Limbaugh and the things they choose to say about those who disagree with them. I do. But would you consider that your comment only plays into the hands of those who support them and then paint all the rest of us with the same broad brush of intolerance. I wish you well.
