Sarah Palin Didn’t Snub Oprah, She Just Doesn’t Have Time for Her
Sarah Palin hasn’t made an appearance on “Oprah” yet – not because she doesn’t like the talk-show queen, she just doesn’t have time.
A spokesman for the Alaska governor told CNN that Palin’s decision not to visit Oprah Winfrey on the set yet is “nothing personal” – she’s just been bombarded with media interview requests from David Letterman, Jay Leno, George Stephanopoulos and even Jon Stewart (where she’s sure to get a skewering). She’s had about 250 requests so far, to be exact.
“It’s worldwide, there’s still a tremendous amount of interest," spokesman Bill McAllister told CNN. "It’s nothing personal about Oprah, it’s just that she turned down the vast majority of these requests."
After all, the governor’s got to do Alaska’s business sometime, right?
Winfrey last week clarified to "Extra" that although she said during the White House race that she didn’t want her show to be used as a platform for any candidate, “I said I would be happy to talk to Sarah Palin when the election was over.” There were earlier reports that Winfrey – a staunch and early Barack Obama supporter — refused to invite then-Republican-vice-presidential hopeful Palin on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”
She noted that Palin has been on FOX News, NBC and CNN, but not her program. “Maybe she’ll talk to me now that she has a book deal,” the talk-show queen added.
“I’m not aware that it’s been ruled out,” McAllister said of a still-possible Palin-Winfrey meet.
Perhaps Jay Leno’s new time slot will entice Palin to visit “The Tonight Show.”
Instead of airing at 11:35 PM, Leno’s new NBC show will be on at 10 PM weeknights, The New York Times reports. That means it will compete with top programs like “CSI: Miami.”
It’s been reported that Leno had various suitors, including ABC, Fox and the Sony television studio. But he was persuaded to stay at NBC.
His new salary?
About $30 million a year. That’s about 30 million reasons to stay at NBC.
