Sarah Palin to Make 'Saturday Night Live' Appearance UPDATE: Live Reader Forum

In an announcement sure to make this weekend’s Saturday Night Live a ratings winner, Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin will make a guest appearance this coming Saturday night.

The confirmation was made by Presidential candidate John McCain during his interview with David Letterman on his return appearance on the late-night comedy show.

Palin’s appearance has been eagerly anticipated by fans on both sides of the aisle in the wake of the riotous, dead-on portrayals of the Alaskan Governor by 30 Rock star and SNL alumni, Tina Fey.

Past Tina Fey "Palin" performances on Saturday Night Live can be found here and here.

Diana, it just continues to show how stupid she really is………….. Every thing they did was Mocking her. I’ve seen Alec Baldwin (before the SNL appearance) on other shows making fun of her. Saying very negative things about her. Why would McCains people think this kind of appearance would be helpful to them in the election. To think that McCain/Palin would win is absolutley terrifying to me…….for our entire Country as well as the World. I will be so glad when this election is over. Vote for Obama

Dona, I will be glad when it’s over also. My sister was telling me this a.m. that there is an article in the Washington Post today about the toll this election is taking on everybody, especially women. If I locate it, I will post it to ya’.

Diana, Thank you for the article……….. While reading I’m asking myself the question……….How can Republicans be so fearful of Obama winning.? It’s the last 8 years of our lives under the control of the Republicans and the WORST President this Country has ever had.. All of the major problems of our times have gotten worse and worse under this kind of leadership. Even the Unknown is more enticing than the knowlege of what has been the handling of our Country by these incompetent people.

I think it is because of the very well organized propaganda machine that the radical branch of the republican party has put into place over the years, Dona. They have ruled by (a) dumbing down the populus and (b) instilling fear into the populus. I also think it’s the Law of Unintended Consequences that occurred when the Fairness Doctrine was done away with back in the 80’s, thus allowing characters like LImbaugh, O’Reilly and the Clear Channel radio stations to only tell one side. Most of us have somehow forgotten how to depend upon our curiosity for information, and when we have seen an injustice or seen our Constitution compromised, we have lost our desire to complain Loudly. Now, we are looking at 8 squandered years with the distinct possibility of repeating the whole sceneario because of a lot of people refusing to use their imagination and inspiration to do something totally new in the future. I think it’s very sad, but perhaps it is a cycle that will make us stronger in the future, but only if we decide to work together and stop listening to those that polarize us. That is the primary resentment I have against Palin now—-not her incompetence as much as her speeches that seek to divide us in a most Un-American way…

John McCain said on “The David Letterman Show” (Thursday night) that there’s a “good possibility” that Sarah Palin will appear on the Letterman show before Election Day, as well. Letterman really raked McCain over the coals. At first, I thought Dave was just doing his due diligence, but after a while, it got fairly intense, as Letterman kept asking McCain over and over about Palin’s qualifications. Later, Letterman asked McCain if he wasn’t engaging in guilt-by-association by trying to link Barack Obama to William Ayers. Specifically, Letterman asked McCain if, by that standard, Obama wouldn’t be in the right if he were to question McCain’s relationship with G. Gordon Liddy - who broke into the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C. in the early 1970’s. Letterman said he’s 61, and said he’s never seen America in trouble on so many fronts, nationally and internationally. I’m not a Letterman viewer, normally, but he was harder on McCain than Obama was the night before, in some respects.

Thanks for that, James. I’m going to be sure to save that episode on my TiVo and watch it this weekend. It’s truly amazing how far McCain has fallen since his campaign took on Sarah.

James, I’ve been a Letterman fan for as long as he’s been on TV……….I was so proud of him interviewing McCain. He really showed his patriotic side by asking the right questions. He didn’t let McCain intimadate him at all…He pushed for answers that McCain tried to avoid. He said Palin would probably appear on Lettersman show………that was stated before the questioning got hot and heavy. I’m sure McCain has changed his mind. Palin wouldn’t stand a chance with a Letterman interview if he choose to repeat those same tactics with her as he did McCain. Her entire game since she was nominated has been HIDE AND SEEK. The more I see her the more disgusted I am by her.

Hi, Dona. I wonder if it isn’t just the McCain campaign putting the muzzle on her. The poor lady was even restricted in what she could do and say on Saturday Night Live. I think she was afraid to even tell Katie Couric which magazines/newspapers she reads, the McCain advisors are so paranoid about what she might say. Many postulate that it’s because Palin knows so little, but sometimes I wonder if that’s the case, or the McCain campaign really doesn’t trust what might come out of her mouth?

James, I agree, I too think it’s the McCain Campaign. What does that say for the lot of them. If they can’t trust Palins behavior why did they choose her. Although they do see and hear what transpires at the Rally’s………..(not too good). She seems to be a Rabble Rouser. That’s OK (in their minds) when you’re preaching to the Choir. But that kind of rhetoric out to the General Public would be a disaster

Good quote Emcye, just get worried it’s the later, and really worries me what it says about the people who vote for them.

Well like I stated before that maybe if she goes on SNL and does the jokes maybe she will realize that it’s not far from the truth. Shouldn’t complain though, every time she opens her mouth it’s a leg up for Obama. So go to it Sarah, we are all waiting to laugh at you, again and again and again and again……

Unfortunately there is nothing funny about Sarah Palin; quite sad and more than a little frightening in fact.
