Sarah Palin to Make 'Saturday Night Live' Appearance UPDATE: Live Reader Forum

In an announcement sure to make this weekend’s Saturday Night Live a ratings winner, Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin will make a guest appearance this coming Saturday night.

The confirmation was made by Presidential candidate John McCain during his interview with David Letterman on his return appearance on the late-night comedy show.

Palin’s appearance has been eagerly anticipated by fans on both sides of the aisle in the wake of the riotous, dead-on portrayals of the Alaskan Governor by 30 Rock star and SNL alumni, Tina Fey.

Past Tina Fey "Palin" performances on Saturday Night Live can be found here and here.

Thank you, Zera. My Cousin and his wife settled in St. Paul many years ago, and have lived there their whole marriage. They met at Carlton College. At any rate, I’ll email him and see if I can get my hands on it. It you can locate it, in the meantime, post it here. I think it is essential information for those on this site that don’t seem to understand the dramatic shift to the right the Republican party took and why people such as me left it. And, we all know that with the Bush/Cheney group, the Executive branch of government became so skewed that checks and balances flew out the window. These Republican women are people who I deeply admire because they have worked so hard to try to pull the GOP back to its base beliefs, and they have had a tough time doing it over the years. The GOP certainly hasn’t been Lincoln’s party for quite some time now, and I hope it finds its way again from the extreme right wing.

I was glad to see that there is a Republican resistance to the movement toward extremism and theocracy. I hate to disappoint you, Diana, but I could not find a copy online. I looked before I mentioned it. In fact, I only mentioned it because you said you had a cousin in the broadcast area, and thus the possibility of getting a copy. otoh: the DCCC has committed $1M to oppose Bachmann, aaaand… ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — A Sartell man plans another challenge to U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann — this time as a write-in candidate. Republican Aubrey Immelman says he decided to resurrect his campaign after Bachmann said on the MSNBC program “Hardball” that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama “may have anti-American views.” Immelman lost to Bachmann in the Republican primary in September. He says the one thing he will not do is ask Democrats to vote for him. He says he wants his candidacy to be a Republican referendum on Bachmann and the direction the party has taken the country. She has stepped in it right up to her Maybelline. This will be a referendum on right-wing extremism. Political prejudice vs the rest of us. I hope America wins this one, even in the ‘patriotic’ parts.

Zera, I checked on headline news on Salon(online) before I run on some errands, and she is blaming the whole thing on Chris Matthews. http://www.salon.com/mwt/broadsheet/?last_story=/mwt/broadsheet/2008/10/… Send me your thoughts after you read it…

I didn’t need to read it (though I did anyway). This is all over the local news. Salon covered the FOX affiliate interview, I have seen the PBS, ABC, and CBS interviews. Still leaves NBC (CW doesn’t do news). She tried claiming she was misunderstood, she didn’t say it, Chris Matthews put words in her mouth, it’s the liberal media, she is being mistreated, … yeah, and the check is in the mail. She is squirming like a greased pig. Excuses, evasions, scapegoating, typical Republican defensiveness. Absolutely NOT the type of leadership this country needs. Michele Bachmann is an iconic Republican extremist. The cancer in the party that someone mentioned long ago. Her faux pas is Karma balancing out Joe the Plumber. Speaking of Karma, I just saw my first ad for Tinklenberg. I am glad he has the money to fund ads, especially in the last 2 weeks - should be very effective. Before she tried to play ‘Hardball’, Bachmann had a 2-1 lead. Her race should get interesting. Can’t wait for the next poll.

Yeah, Zera, she’s claiming she was misunderstood, which insults our intelligence, considering that we can sit and watch her appearance on the MSNBC stream. McCain tried that a couple of times. What do they think we are??

But Marjorie, we don’t need a half-way. This woman doesn’t know what she’s doing on the international stage or on the economic front. We are in deep and serious danger right now, and having someone who can’t even manage her own household isn’t going to cut it. Just compare those kids to the urbane and brilliant Chelsea Clinton, who even at her young age would make a far better vice president. An intelligent, thoughtful woman of character like you really doesn’t need to defend her. You know what happened here, and you can just let it go. By the way, the polls are indicating an 8 point spread mostly, these days, MC….

Mugsy: By the way, the polls are indicating an 8 point spread mostly, these days,… Depends on the polls you follow, I guess. Zogby, this morning, posted 48.8 to 45.1, Obama’s favor. Apparently, there is still a record number of undecideds out there. I know I don’t need to defend Gov. Palin, but I happen to like her. I like her spirit, I like her courage and I like what she has accomplished. You do not do what she has done without being able to think on your feet, and fast. She may not be scholarly, but she’s savvy. You can continue to bash her if that’s your fun, but I can tell you it’s having less and less impact. Your candidate’s record is beginning to catch up with him, and that is what will ultimately decide this election. Good old honesty and integrity.

Marjorie, “good old honesty and integrity” hasn’t decided an election in my lifetime. I’m glad you have the strength of delusion to believe otherwise.

Thanks Diana. And although the Irish are very into this election and there is lots of coverage and I was even able to watch the debates there, it was still a bit of a break from the intensity and ups and downs of the campaign, which was good.

DeB, It has become so sleazy since you’ve been away. I think we will all be relieved when November 5 gets here. At the same time, I would think it would have been fascinating to have been over there witnessing the economic recovery steps being taken. I have put all sorts of links on wow in regards to information I found regarding the election and the economy. If you go to my posts, you may be able to catch up on things.

Coco Bernal, Yes I too am a mother……..Believe me she is not forwarding MY Cause. I’m for Womens rights……..and all Americans Rights. Her values don’t speak goodness to me………Like….don’t teach our children anything about birth control Which is an obvious failure of hers………teenage daughter pregnant. (Poor girl) maybe if her mother had taught her how to take care of herself she wouldn’t have gotten pregnant………now they are approving of the Daughters boyfriend to drop out of school so he can go to work………..what kind of message does this give to the Young People in this Country. I’m more than willing, as you say “LET MRS. PALIN BE A WOMEN” She is a woman………she is a mother……….I just don’t think she is qualified to be the VP or possibly The President of the United States. Her abilities are so lacking it’s almost laughable if it weren’t so deadly serious.

It should be a scream on “Saturday Night Live” tonight, 11:30pm EST, NBC. Sarah Palin’s going to play herself. I hope Tina Fey plays her, too, kind of like twins arguing, something like that would be a good skit.
