Sarah Palin to Make 'Saturday Night Live' Appearance UPDATE: Live Reader Forum

In an announcement sure to make this weekend’s Saturday Night Live a ratings winner, Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin will make a guest appearance this coming Saturday night.

The confirmation was made by Presidential candidate John McCain during his interview with David Letterman on his return appearance on the late-night comedy show.

Palin’s appearance has been eagerly anticipated by fans on both sides of the aisle in the wake of the riotous, dead-on portrayals of the Alaskan Governor by 30 Rock star and SNL alumni, Tina Fey.

Past Tina Fey "Palin" performances on Saturday Night Live can be found here and here.

It’s a trade-off. Either you show up for the real press, or you get on these talk-shows for the coverage and all bets are off. She made her bed here, I think.

Watching SNL for tonights appearance of the real Sarah Palin should have been by-passed and kept Tina Fey going at it instead. She served no useful purpose tonight except to perhaps strole her own ego. Go Tina! Go Tina! CA

Not going to watch it. Can’t stand that REAL PALIN , sorry if other people feel that way and the SNL viewer audience would go down. Love Tina.

It seemed a little more tense on the set, kudos to Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. Curiously, Palin seemed in control and collected with little self-deprecating humor. I also noticed this at the Alred Smith dinner and John McCain the humor seemed pointed in the opposite direction. Woke this morning to find a Colin Powell endorsement for Obama on the news though. Wow.

I watched last night as I am a SNL fan from the beginning. I am an Obama/Biden supporter, but I will give “props” to Gov. Palin for going on and being able to laugh at herself. She didn’t blow a line and kept cool about the skits, even though they were about her. Amy Poehler was awesome in her “rap!” I’m voting tomorrow, don’t want to wait and have to stand in line for 7hrs like some had to last election.

Colin Powell endorses Obama!!! This is a big deal. Here’s a couple quotes from BBC: “One interesting sideline to the Powell endorsement is that he gave as one reason for his choice Sarah Palin’s presence on the Republican ticket, arguing she was not ready for the White House.” “I’m also troubled by, not what Senator McCain says, but what members of the [Republican] Party say… such things as ‘Well, you know that Mr Obama is a Muslim’. Well the correct answer is, ‘He’s not a Muslim, he’s a Christian, he’s always been a Christian’. But the really right answer is, “What if he is?’ Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer is ‘No’, that’s not America.”

I’m okay with Palin. I’ve decided I just can’t vote for Obama. I can stand on my head for fours years, for God’s sake! I’m not giving up on Hillary. If Obama wins this election, he’ll be the Democratic presidential candidate in 2012. Hillary will then be permanently out of Presidential politics. 2016 is too late for her to make another bid. She’ll be too old. That’s why I’ve decided to vote the McCain ticket. If McCain/Palin win, it opens the 2012 presidential race for Hillary. She won’t underestimate Obama again. She can beat either McCain or Palin in 2012. Besides, people will get used to seeing a woman in the White House, which will be good for Hillary’s 2012 bid —- and good for women across the country, particularly my daughters.

Jacki, that has to be the most ridiculous logic set I have ever read. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but at least base it upon reality… ANTIQUIS TEMPORIBUS, NATI TIBI SIMILES IN RUPIBUS VENTOSISSIMIS EXPONEBANTUR AD NECEM.

Jacki Castle, Are you really saying your love for Hillary comes before your Love of your Country. McCain and Palin are disastrous for our Nation. We are in such a mess………..we need Obama/Biden to help us recover from the disastor the Bush and the Republicans have gotten us into. I love Hillary and am so disappointed that she didn’t make it to the end. But first I am a patriotic American. Hillary would not want her fans to do what you are saying you will do………….She’s asked her fan base to VOTE FOR OBAMA She wanted to be the First Woman President………but she loves her Country more than her desire to be President. I hope you will reconsider and follow her request.

I watched the opening skit and then watched something else. In Sarah Palin’s case real life was stranger than fiction and I like the Tina Fey version far more than the real thing. I keep wondering how this woman can possibly believe that she could step into the shoes of Vice-President, let alone that of President of the United States. CA

CA Rose, I keep saying she scares me………..that’s the reason. She actually believes she’s capable. I have a very hard time understanding how so many intelligent Americans can be so deluded.

Well, I can’t vote for Sarah Palin. I want a woman who can stand up to political leaders as well as reporters and appear on news programs to answer any questions thrown at me and have a stand on the issues that affect my country and be elected fairly. Not some media personality who just wants to divide this country with her divisive comments.

I would love to see Palin on Meet the Press. I doubt it will happen though.
