A Post-Election Talk-Show Future for Sarah Palin? A Right-Wing Oprah? A Velveeta Martha?

By The Etceterist

If Sarah Palin were a talk show host, who would she be? A little bit of Tyra? A little bit of Anne Coulter? A combo of both, chatting on both clothes and conservatism? A right wing Oprah?  The Velveeta Mooseburger Martha?

That is the question agents and managers at the top talent agencies in New York and Los Angeles began wondering over the weekend as they read the latest polls. Never mind that she is obliged to fulfill her term as governor of Alaska, a star is born, repeat, A Star is Born. And these agencies have just a few weeks to finalize their pitches to America’s most famous hockey mom, proposing the amazing deals they can do for her in the fields of books, television, radio, endorsements, moose hunts … you name it.

Here are a few of the ideas blowing in the wind … and in the minds of Hollywood’s and New York’s talent packagers:

— Room on "The View."
— A weekly "60 Minutes" segment with Sarah and Hillary Clinton reviving the 70s-era "Point-Counterpoint" style debates between Shana Alexander and the conservative James J. Kilpatrick.
— Her own daily talk show, positioned as the anti-Ellen.

While the talk show idea is said to play to Palin’s particular communications strengths, consensus is forming that a media career of some sort is in the stars if, as is increasingly likely, she does not find herself in Washington D.C. as Vice President this January.

Way t’go, Barbara! (and congrats on your pick-of-the-week comment!) This link should put the anti-christ nonsense to rest, but people will believe what they want, especially when it comes to the book of Revelation. Howsomever! I do think we’d be foolish to ignore the long list of destruction perpetrated by Muslin extremists. It’s a very real threat. And I think people’s misunderstanding of Obama’s military policy is nearly as counterproductive as the irrational leap to identifying him as the anti-christ or a terrorist sympathizer. He’s a not a peace-nik. But he’s not a fear-monger either. And I think his strategies for building up our military strength and deployment of force make a lot of sense.

Ms Dee thanks - Not sure I deserve the pick-of-the-week comment, my first and last line came from me. The rest is a quote from the article. It’s what I had been thinking, when I saw it written by Liz Peek, I just added a little. You know Ms Dee and Elaine with the election we are at opposite ends. I’m disgusted with the name calling of Obama as antichrist or that he is a Muslim(which I do not believe). Just as I’m disgusted with calling McCain a Nazi. Neither of the candidates are these labels. I believe one of the biggest problems in this country is politicians from each party not working together. With what has been happening on WoW, we as citizens are just like the politicians. Whoever is elected, the American people of the other party, will be negative and not try to work with the new President. If Obama wins, I will be unhappy, but will respectful and support his Presidency. As the American public we need to come together to be a voice. Tell the politicians to start working for us, instead of their party. Yes, each party has different views how government should work, but there has to be some areas where they can see eye to eye on occasion. Anyway, there I go off on another subject. It’s just I’ve enjoyed the talks we had the other day Ms. Dee and now with Elaine. Our views are different on politics, but isn’t it nice occasionally to have a discussion with less tension?

I think so. You’re always a probing, rational presence on these threads, and I hope I’ve never been too extreme. Hi’s to Kiddo.

Hey Deni :-) I adopted a practice during this political season when I have received some version of these vile anti-American piles of toxic hate-mongering. I type up a reply that clearly states my level of repulsion and outrage, I include links to the sources that refute the lies and spin, and send it out, not just to the one who sent it to me, but I reply to ALL the recipients in the cc window. This way there can be no mistake that silence = agreement. Needless to say, it has been awhile since anyone dared to foul my inbox (or my hopeful heart) with this form of cowardly unpatriotic filth.

…as represented by the chicken, the whisperer and the power that binds and issues forth to the multitude, thru them. and by the power of their sacred scratchings, shall they be known.

Dear Chicken Whisperer….Do the girls put eggs in an in-box or an out-box? In to you or out to them? About trouble with inboxes: Don’t for get the garlic braid on the computer ploy…. This thread got peculiar right quick….and the moon’s not even going to be full ‘til Wednesday night……wo-o-o-o-o-o-o….. It’s not called “lunacy” for naught….. I was scratching and pecking today and found this post from Iris Odonata quoting somebody I failed to note..:”The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn”….(from 5/20/08)….That might be the definition of militant ignorance…. Do the girls stay up late when the moon is full? on the lookout for foxes? There are owls hooting right out back here tonight…They must have noticed the chipmunks working overtime today getting ready to move in under the house for chilly time….. Have you ever keep Arcanas(sp?)..the ones with the various pastel colored eggs..(high protein yolks…high iron content..)…so that it’s always Easter…… Oopsie…..off thread
