A Post-Election Talk-Show Future for Sarah Palin? A Right-Wing Oprah? A Velveeta Martha?

By The Etceterist

If Sarah Palin were a talk show host, who would she be? A little bit of Tyra? A little bit of Anne Coulter? A combo of both, chatting on both clothes and conservatism? A right wing Oprah?  The Velveeta Mooseburger Martha?

That is the question agents and managers at the top talent agencies in New York and Los Angeles began wondering over the weekend as they read the latest polls. Never mind that she is obliged to fulfill her term as governor of Alaska, a star is born, repeat, A Star is Born. And these agencies have just a few weeks to finalize their pitches to America’s most famous hockey mom, proposing the amazing deals they can do for her in the fields of books, television, radio, endorsements, moose hunts … you name it.

Here are a few of the ideas blowing in the wind … and in the minds of Hollywood’s and New York’s talent packagers:

— Room on "The View."
— A weekly "60 Minutes" segment with Sarah and Hillary Clinton reviving the 70s-era "Point-Counterpoint" style debates between Shana Alexander and the conservative James J. Kilpatrick.
— Her own daily talk show, positioned as the anti-Ellen.

While the talk show idea is said to play to Palin’s particular communications strengths, consensus is forming that a media career of some sort is in the stars if, as is increasingly likely, she does not find herself in Washington D.C. as Vice President this January.

Hey there WowSister Georgia I so relish the opportunity to discuss the ladies! They ground and nourish and delight me. Re Aracaunas, YES. Two in my flock (Dove and Serenity) lay blue and green respectively. They leave their gifts of perfectly packaged protein for me in the nest outbox that has a framed fox photo standing (hanging?) guard. They worry not about munkeychips as the Coffee Cats (Mocha and Latte) keep that population under control. Nyah nyah to Mr. Coyote & Co. because the Hen Hilton is on complete lockdown before the sun goes down. I believe that they consider the owlsong from their cousins to be a comfort. (although I am SURE they like my nightly lull-a-hen-bye better because they know it by heart and murmur along) I assume they make good use of any and all moonlight to hunt juicy unsuspecting nocturnal bugs. They are in HEN HEAVEN at this time of the year. The garden is done and they get the “seconds.” No extremes allowed for my girls. We have a fan for summer and a heat lamp for winter. I did raise the chicks in my laundry room, but relocated them ASAP because one of my little dogs was just convinced the noisy peepers were squeaky toys and I was not letting him play with them. He sat at the closed door and whined pitifully for weeks! Never a dull minute at Cackleberry Tree Farm!
+~~ to you Sweet Georgia

p.s. Off thread is just such a welcome change of pace sometimes!

Wow! Has someone got your attention, or what? For God’s sake Barack Obama is NOT, I repeat, Barack Obama is NOT a muslim! Barack (Barry is this better for you?) Obama has a strange name, is the offspring of an American (white woman) South African (black father). NOT muslim! No muslim heritage of any sort!! Who in God’s name prompted you to continue this spewing of racial hatred? Yes, I got a similar EMail and decided to not even read it because I knew what it was about, and I did not want to poison my own mind with hatred! I do not deny the reality of the extremists anywhere! We will always have extremists with us. Barry Obama is NOT an extremist! He is fairly liberal, but his life story has been shown over and over again on TV. Much more about him has been printed, televised, etc., I think than any other candidate, ever, prior to an election. Why is it some are still swallowing the “FEAR TACTICS” being imposed on us, just one more time? STOP THE INSANITY, NOW! STOP SPREADING THE FEAR, NOW! Since when are Americans so afraid of anything we cannot trust even ourselves? I trust us much more than this! Stop and think! Stop being led astray by such tactics. Stand up and be counted amongst those who say NO! NO MORE FEAR TACTICS! NO MORE LIES AND DECEIT! NO MORE, NO MORE, NO MORE! I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK, NOW! LET US ALL TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY, AND RID OURSELVES OF ALL THE LYING TACTICS USED TO DIVIDE US EVEN MORE . Friends, please in the name of God, stop allowing these kinds of scare tactics alter your judgment. Do not be afraid to use your mind and come to realize what is behind all this nonsense! Lastly, do you think for one moment a President of the United States, in this day and age has so much power? This is why our Nation is founded on the principles of the three branch system of governance. Each one to be a check on all the others. We simply got over our heads in a lopsided system, with those in charge more interested in their own ambitions than the needs of the American People! When we have a well balanced government, we can have a well balanced nation. WE the People, are the ultimate power in this country. Don’t forget this, ever! WE still have control - we simply need to take charge and insist on a real representative government!.

This has not altered my mind I know my Bible… I wanted to defend Senator Obama but I guess that is wrong too?????? I wanted to put a truth out there and sometimes I dont say JUST THE RIGHT THING! if I dont try and educate them who will, then we lose that VOTE!!! and one vote to me is important!!! this e- mail makes me sick I am sick of people saying lies about this man!And if we do not stand up for him who Will?

http://www.islamfortoday.com/60minutes.htm Just because a person is a Muslim does not mean that person is a terrorist. Most every Muslim I have ever met or heard of believes their religion means peace. So the first part of the weird argument in the insane email you received is the assumption that people will think that if Obama is a Muslim, he must be a terrorist. So so wrong. Muslims should be offended by this piece of xenophobia; it is a veritable slurfest and you should not post it any more or distribute it at all. Second, of course, anyone who reads the newspaper or checks reliable sites like factcheck.org knows that Obama is the son of two agnostics and that he joined the United Church of Christ and is a Christian. If you want to calm down, know that the statisticians who are tracking the polls consider Obama’s likelihood of winning the election at over 94% See http://www.fivethirtyeight.com Stand up to the lies, but don’t get stuck in them either.

ty Elizabeth for this advice, I will not post it ever again! I have seen the error of doing that!! It just brought me to anger! and I needed to show it to some people with some intelligence so they could help me figure out what to do towards a response to it! ty again

Elizabeth is so right or should I say correct. :) I don’t understood why people say Obama is a Muslim, as if that’s a bad thing. Extreme Muslims who kill others in the name of religion are bad. Muslims in general are like everyone else, just different religious beliefs. (Obama is not a Muslim) PawPaw - when I receive things like that, I usually just ignore them. People who send e-mails or post here with negative, extreme and unfounded views will not listen when you try to correct them. Or just send them a silly youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6yzjDXp_og&feature=related

LOL..I ENJOYED THAT!!

I would not dignify this thing with a response. I get this stuff forwarded to me from relatives in Ohio almost on a daily basis, and there’s nothing to be gained by attempting to squelch idiots like this. Unless you can limit yourself to a quick: Stupid Is as Stupid Does, indeed. Here’s a Revelation: Truth is what you want to believe. or, Now you know how we felt when you people elected George Bush. or, This is obviously a longstanding Muslim v. Christian issue. Please leave me out of it. :-)

Deni, I am with you. I want her to just go away. I didn’t even know she existed before all this nonsense. I do not care to know anymore about her. I do not wish to spend any further time on discussions about her. We give her far too much power by doing so.

Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric’s questions for her ‘less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media.’” You betcha. (Kinda is not a word, Sarah.) Couric asked her what newspapers she read. Whoa. What a horrendous question. It caught Palin totally off-guard and she didn’t have an answer. That awful Katie Couric. How dare she!?!

The interesting thing about that question was that Couric was saying ‘since you formed your world view from reading…’ when Palin cut her off and made her nonsensical reply. Perfectly reasonable question…what publications formed your world view? For Palin to say the question was irrelevant and ‘gotcha’ journalism is just pathetic and cowardly. Perhaps all she could think of, was that picture of herself reading the “John Birch Society” literature at her desk. Or maybe it was herself quoting the writing of a rabid anti-Semite at the Republican Convention. So many things to forget, so little time.

I used to love velveeta cheese. It was the perfect cheese for grilled cheese samiches and nachos and all things that make the heart warm and safe. But no more. It has changed. It tastes terrible. It makes lousy nachos and worse grilled cheese. I have been betrayed. A pox on velveeta!
