A Post-Election Talk-Show Future for Sarah Palin? A Right-Wing Oprah? A Velveeta Martha?

By The Etceterist

If Sarah Palin were a talk show host, who would she be? A little bit of Tyra? A little bit of Anne Coulter? A combo of both, chatting on both clothes and conservatism? A right wing Oprah?  The Velveeta Mooseburger Martha?

That is the question agents and managers at the top talent agencies in New York and Los Angeles began wondering over the weekend as they read the latest polls. Never mind that she is obliged to fulfill her term as governor of Alaska, a star is born, repeat, A Star is Born. And these agencies have just a few weeks to finalize their pitches to America’s most famous hockey mom, proposing the amazing deals they can do for her in the fields of books, television, radio, endorsements, moose hunts … you name it.

Here are a few of the ideas blowing in the wind … and in the minds of Hollywood’s and New York’s talent packagers:

— Room on "The View."
— A weekly "60 Minutes" segment with Sarah and Hillary Clinton reviving the 70s-era "Point-Counterpoint" style debates between Shana Alexander and the conservative James J. Kilpatrick.
— Her own daily talk show, positioned as the anti-Ellen.

While the talk show idea is said to play to Palin’s particular communications strengths, consensus is forming that a media career of some sort is in the stars if, as is increasingly likely, she does not find herself in Washington D.C. as Vice President this January.

I certainly don’t see her as a radio talk show host because her fans want to see her. They do so adore her. So let’s see it has to be, “The Sarah Palin I’m A Real American Show”. The focus will be destroying the new “Barack Obama Administration” (yep I said it!) and everyone in it. It will be her job to remind every American and the whole wide world that everything “negative” that happens in our country after Jan 20, 2009 will be their fault. Yabetcha, bye golly. Stay tuned its coming. But then she’d have to quit her Executive day job would’nt she?

Your called Limosine Liberals, always trying to help the little guy, the down trodden, yea like hell you are. You wouldn’t get your hands dirty.

Hi Dutchess…thank you for reminding us. Even though it’s not my usual to get mad and go off on someone, it is sometimes hard to contain myself when a person uses vile accusations on this site. In lieu of using vile language today, I will not be taking a shower so I can be low down and dirty and nasty ~~ plus, I have this very slinky sleezy black little dress which will be donned for housework. I might as well act the part of accusation. Just because. ;~)

Irish Eyes - I am sorry you think we are mean and nasty. I just want to understand how you form opinions and process information. You mentioned that you only have Fox News. Until recently right wing conservative media outlets dominated. Rush Limbaugh amoung others are soley right wing. I am getting concerned at the number of conservatives that will not believe anything reported by “main stream” media. Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh rule. For example -due you think republicans have been involved in voter suppression or other unfair tactics? Or is it just the “main stream” media? Is Acorn the only perp? I don’t understand why right wing conservatives all say the liberal media doesn’t cover the truth. From my vantage people like Sean Hannity and other right wing forums say they are presenting the truth but -they don’t always. If they do they put their slant on it. Look at the misinformation about Barrack Obama.

A velvetta Martha…smacks just a bit of elitism…there are women in this country whose budgets can’t afford Brie and some of them are wives of American soldiers, single mothers and folks just trying to make it. I can afford Brie and a couple of other goodies, but I think we need to be careful when we are mouthing off that we don’t include a load of other folks in our snarkiness about Governor Palin… Often velvetta is not the first choice…it’s the only option!

What is a “Joe six pack” and is everyone else an elitist. Who are ordinary plain “common folk” and who drinks “merlot” I hear they don’t drink it in Wasilla.
