Sarah Palin Revives Ayers Attack For Obama

Sarah Palin this week said she’s "comfortable" with Barack Obama as our commander in chief, but that doesn’t mean the Governor’s given up on attacking her former rival.

Speaking with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer today, Palin again revived attacks on the President-elect’s association with William Ayers, a professor at University of Illinois Chicago whose past includes working with the Weather Underground. That group set off a series of bombs in the late 60s, actions that Palin equates with "domestic terrorism,” a charge lobbed in Obama’s direction on numerous occasions leading up to last week’s election.

While discussing some of the nastier aspects of the presidential campaign, Blitzer reminded Palin of her previous comments, like when she said of Obama, "Someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he is palling around with terrorists who would target their own country." It’s then that Palin invoked Ayers’ name, telling Blitzer that she thinks the 63-year old deserves more scrutiny: "Well, I still am concerned about that association with Bill Ayers. And if anybody still wants to talk about it, I will, because this is an unrepentant domestic terrorist who had campaigned to blow up, to destroy our Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol. That’s an association that still bothers me.

"And I think it’s still fair to talk about it. However the campaign is over. That chapter is closed. Now is the time to move on and to, again, make sure that all of us are doing all that we can to progress this nation."

Blitzer went on to ask Palin if she regrets any of her remarks or the general tone of the campaign’s last weeks, to which Palin replied, "I do not think that it is off-base nor mean-spirited, nor negative campaigning to call someone out on their associations and on their record." When asked if it was her idea to bring up Ayers in her stump speeches, the Governor described the decision as "collaborative,” before again insisting our nation needs to move beyond the last few months and keep our eyes on the future. "I don’t want to point fingers backwards and play the blame game, certainly, on anything that took place in terms of strategy or messaging in the campaign."

I’ll tell you what. I may not need to know anything more than has already been reported about Barack Obama’s relationship with William Ayers. There may be nothing more to report. There may be details that would further vindicate Obama. But I don’t really need to know. I wouldn’t mind having a better understanding of who the Weathermen were, what they bombed and why. I might also be interested in a timeline that would explain how he went from being an anti-war activist in the ‘70’s to the respected professor it’s been reported he is today. Has he published his memoir? And I’m very curious to discover more about Reverend Wright’s relationship to Lewis Farraqan and The Nation of Islam. Nobody talked too much about that, but I imagine it could only strengthen Obama’s negotiating power in the Muslim world if he could have the occasional, man-to-man conversation with the leader of America’s Nation of Islam. He might even be able to persuade Farraqan to serve his country as a diplomatic emmissary of some sort. All I’ve ever heard reported is that Wright’s Church worked with the Muslim congregations on the South side of Chicago in community efforts to feed the hungry, help the schools, provide some basic healthcare, pick people up who life had let down. So I know there must be some association between Wright and Farraqan. And I would bet, Obama has been introduced to the man. I wonder, if the press looked at it, and found nothing scandalous about it, would they explore it any further? Or just allow themselves to be distracted by the easy story feed out of the campaigns. Somebody needs to ask Sarah Palin what she thinks we will find if we take a closer look President-elect Obama’s relationship to Bill Ayers? My guess is, she’d be guilty of liable if she really spilled the scenario she’s brewed up in her mind, so she always just throws it back at the media. Like God told her something really nasty about all this and if the media would just do its job they’d find God’s honest truth in the end. Bachman did the same thing. Or one of the interviewers could tell her, and us, that this issue has been examined and every detail seems to verify the conclusion that there is no reason to conclude that Bill Ayers or anybody else, had such a significanct influence on Obama that the President-elect would somehow sympathize with domestic terrorists, or institute policy that would support a domestic terrorist agenda. Does she really believe that? Maybe.

Get over yourself Palin. You have a state that is going to be in financial trouble soon with the cost of a barrel of oil dropping. You left your Wasilla mayoral job with the city in deep debt. Try to do one thing right before moving on to the next. This woman is risking over exposure and Palin fatigue.

Sarah Palin is one of the most divisive; polarizing political figures I have seen in recent history. And the fact that she is being held up as the future face of the Republican party speaks to their inability to see that the nation is changing instead opting to remain stagnant. She’s questioned Obama’s patriotism, accused him of “pallin’ around with terrorists” accused him of being a socialist, Marxist and possible communist. She is the one that split the country on countless occasions by delineating segments of the U.S. as “real” and “anti” America. She has shown herself to be a woman that lacks any desire for education as it relates to learning about the world at large, instead choosing to focus exclusively on her small corner of the nation. Not ONCE during the presidential run did she or McCain attempt to add diversity to their rallies and voter base. They operated with a clear and comfortable acceptance in their mostly predominately White turnouts which were juxtaposed to the diverse turnouts among Obama’s rallies. Rallies that better reflected the whole of the U.S. instead of simply a segment. She annoys me to no end, both she and McCain. The best thing that could happen to the Democrats in 4 years would indeed be that she represents the Republicans in a bid for the White House. I say bring it on caribou Barbie.

The fact that we are still talking about S.Palin annoys me. The woman is an opportunist and she is promoting herself and not the Repubs. I’m not sure what she is all about at this day and time. Every time she opens her mouth saying how wonderful Mccain is I think she is really saying the opposite. Clearly, there was and is a huge problem within the former McCain campaign re SPalin and McCain staff. The REAL “truth” will eventually come out as it always does in someone’s book or memoirs. I distrust SPalin and her motives. The idea of her being a serious candidate for President of the USA at any point in time is ridiculous in the extreme. If she is the best we can get for President please sent her back to college, then grad school-homeschooling is not acceptable. No one in America would accept Barack Obama as a serious candidate for President of the USA if he had the “exact” same educational background as Palin. Why are some people still pushing her? I am truly perplexed. Nora Odonnell (sp or whatever) is silly for her. I shut up now.

The media appears to be having a feeding frenzy. Interviews galore. I think the campaign for 2012 has started. Ayers gave an interview the day after the election and he said the sad thing about this controversy is that he really didn’t know Obama he wishes he had gotten to know him. William Ayers is not a terrorist. Terrorist are jailed. He was nineteen years old. He is patriotic but went about stopping the vietnam war in the wrong way. His statements have been taken out of context. He said he wished he had done more. I have more respect for Ayers than abortion clinic bombers. Where there is smoke there is fire.- What about book banning in Alaska?

If she wants to check into back grounds lets go into her involvement with the successionists movements in Alaska - I believe she actually attended those meetings and she was an adult.

Remember Key West saying they were going to leave the country, lived there for a year when I was 18 (before it became a cruise ship stop) that might have been a country I wanted to live in at the time. Up there, they seem each individual would want to do their own thing, couldn’t manage to be a big oil power.
