Sarah Palin's Future Son-in-Law Talks About Being a Teenage Dad

Sarah Palin’s future son-in-law is speaking out about his relationship with Palin’s teenage daughter, their unborn baby, and rumors of a shotgun wedding.

Levi Johnston told the Associated Press in an interview
that he wasn’t held against his will on the campaign trail as Palin campaigned with presidential hopeful John McCain in the race against Barack Obama. He also said he’s not being forced into a shotgun wedding with 17-year-old Bristol Palin because he got her pregnant – no matter what those in the media, or "Saturday Night Live," for that matter, say. The baby is due December 18, while the wedding is planned for next summer.

"None of that’s true," said the 18-year-old Johnston, who has dated Palin since his freshman year in high school and is known as a heartthrob around Wasilla, AK. "We both love each other. We both want to marry each other. And that’s what we are going to do."

Johnston said the McCain-Palin campaign isn’t directing him what to say – or not to say – right now. “It’s pretty chill,” he said.

Even though he was surprised to hear Bristol was pregnant, Johnston said he quickly embraced the prospects of fatherhood. The teen has dropped out of high school to take a job on the North Slope oil fields as an apprentice electrician. Johnston hinted that the baby is a boy.

"I’m going to take him hunting and fishing. He’ll be everywhere with me,” he said.

I think Levi is too hot, and too 18 to be a proper head of a Christian household. I bet he cheats on Bristol every chance he gets and they are divorced before he’s legally allowed to drink beer. He dropped out of school? Why?

I have 3 children and 2 are teens. We have hounded them about protection. I know abstinence is important to teach to children but as a society we must go beyond that. From a mental and physical health perspective abstinence is best but it is not the be all end all of dialogue. Those parents that refuse to go beyond that with their children might be called grandparents in the near future. maybe Levi is more sheltered from the press and questions up on the North Slope taking a cue from his future mom in law and dodging the press. I feel really bad for these kids. I can’t believe that the Palins and his parents allowed him to drop out of school but then again he is 18. Sometimes parents just can’t tell them anything because they know everything. They will have it easier then some because of family support but an education sure helps

It really does not make sense that he dropped out of school—sent off to Siberia and away from the press is more like it. What a strange Republican VP pick. After seeing this family, my college-aged daughter thanked me for having a small family so I could spend lots of time with her, encouraging her to make good life choices, showing her what good values were and living by them and gently pointing out that the way you speak can make you sound smart or really, really dumb. She also appreciated her religious upbringing which is beginning to add a mature spirituality to her life….makes us sound like conservatives but we are a very liberal family. Liberals do have family values also…

Ya got love it all… ONLY in America! What a comedy of errors all the way around! Of course he is going to say whatever he must, (probably to save his own neck) and here we go again… another wedding which may or may not otherwise have happened. What is the rate of longevity? Anyone taking bets? Of course, he can ride along with the rest of the ‘tribe’ on the campaign trail, and make a great name for himself. Wow, what a way to make career decisions, too. Speaking of the campaign trail… isn’t it a bit rough on little ones to be traveling so much? And, what about the way they handle the baby, like a sack of potatoes, as I see it.
