Sarah Palin's Saturday Night Live Appearance (Video)

Tina Fey and Sarah Palin didn’t exactly share the stage on Saturday Night Live.  But dressed exactly alike, they did both appear along with Alec Baldwin and Lorne Michael in a wry but subdued opening skit.  Later in the show, she appeared on the Weekend Update news desk while Amy Poehler performed  riotously funny Palin rap.  While no minds were changed by the Governor’s performance, she easily passed the SNL trial by fire.

Powell has no integrity IMHO Marjorie. NONE! He totally went into the no-integrity basket for me the day he held up that vial of fake anthrax and passionately pled the case for the invasion of Iraq before the UN. (We were shaking our heads here in shock watching this on TV) No, he doesn’t get to buy integrity back now that he is jumping party lines to endorse Obama. I heard his whole endorsement on NPR today. It was Talking Points 101. He is so inside the Obama tank, he’s getting PR briefings. The Obama spokesman on NPR tried to whitewash Powell’s UN debacle saying it was an embarrassing moment for him. I was like - WHAT?! - oh — the poor little General, being browbeat by Mr. Bush and Rumsfeld into making a presentation. COME ON! Damn right he should’ve been embarrassed. He was on the FRONT LINES of getting us into this sick war. Obama accepting his endorsement and saying he would use him in his administration is ATROCIOUS!

My Alias: integrity Guess I was just looking for a reason to believe. Prior to the unravelling of the white-powder incident, I thought well of Colin Powell. I was disappointed when he wouldn’t run for President — he’d have had my vote in a heartbeat. He seemed solid. Now my hero has revealed himself to be a treacherous liar. That slap in the face stings. One has to question Obama’s judgement for accepting Powell as a mentor… but then again Obama’s choices of mentors has historically not been too wise. McCain/Palin 2008 for America

…but then again Obama’s choices of mentors has historically not been too wise.” Well said, Marjorie. Simply put and very concise.

Diana I think Marjorie was talking about people on this thread bashing Palin, not Colin Powell bashing Palin. People on these threads do disparage her quite a bit. They judge her, and have judged her from the moment she was announced. Maybe Marjorie made her statement because of past experience on certain threads. So to caution someone not to “make judgements” of others seems a little odd to me. Forgive me for bringing this up with you, I am not pointing a finger at anyone, but I read so many people on this blog that willingly and wholeheartedly criticize and judge whenever they want to. I am not saying they shouldn’t, that is their business, but they judge out of one side of their mouth yet criticize when others do the same. I guess that is politics.

Watch the video—how can you possible assume anything if you don’t know what you’re talking about—as usual

If a clip of it shows up on PBS or C-SPAN, I’ll watch it. Otherwise, I have no interest in Colin Powell. Now let’s get back to discussing Gov. Palin as you suggested. There must be something left unsaid.

There is nothing that anyone could say here that would be more damaging to Palin than what has already been said by countless republicans.

Marjorie, I sure don’t feel Gen. Powell smashed or bashed either John McCain or Sarah Palin this morning. I have always held high admiration for Gen. Powell and I do feel this was a difficult decision for him and that he truly took great care and thought into this decision. I also believe that Mr. McCain knows that asking Governor Palin to be his running mate was a mistake. There were so many other wonderful, intellectual, seasoned, prepared, dignified women he could have chosen. But smashing and bashing? No, I don’t believe Gen. Powell was guilty of that. And I have to tell you, that while I, as an Alaskan, and a woman, am in no way fond of Gov. Palin…there are so many ways to point out the full totality of why she’s not ready to be the vice president…that smashing and bashing are not even something that need be considered.

Georgette, I didn’t see the Powell interview, so I really don’t know what was said. I certainly never suggested he smashed or bashed Gov. Palin. In the beginning of this string, I did say But, I highly doubt that Powell would bash Gov. Palin — at least I hope he holds himself to higher standards. Maybe you misread or maybe someone twisted my post. Happens all the time. As for Gov. Palin, I like her and I don’t really think Senator McCain is sorry for asking her to be his running mate. Although the McCain/Palin team is behind Obama in the polls by about 5 points, there is an indication that about 45% of Americans like Gov. Palin enough to vote for the McCain/Palin team. So I don’t feel I’m a voice in the wilderness.

see, Marjorie, that’s not fair - they have Palin in such a bubble that we aren’t allowed to say anything negative without saying we are picking on her - it’s just as crazy as someone saying they aren’t voting for Obama and then we immediately call them racist - it’s sad and I’m glad this skit raised the fact we have no access to her like we do for Biden or any other candidate, even someone running for Library Trustee for heaven’s sake!
