Sarah Palin's Saturday Night Live Appearance (Video)

Tina Fey and Sarah Palin didn’t exactly share the stage on Saturday Night Live.  But dressed exactly alike, they did both appear along with Alec Baldwin and Lorne Michael in a wry but subdued opening skit.  Later in the show, she appeared on the Weekend Update news desk while Amy Poehler performed  riotously funny Palin rap.  While no minds were changed by the Governor’s performance, she easily passed the SNL trial by fire.

Happy Happy Sunday Everyone!!! CNN) — Former Secretary of State Colin Powell announced Sunday that he will be voting for Sen. Barack Obama, citing the Democrat’s “ability to inspire” and the “inclusive nature of his campaign.” Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says he is voting for Barack Obama. Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says he is voting for Barack Obama. “He has both style and substance. I think he is a transformational figure,” Powell said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “Obama displayed a steadiness. Showed intellectual vigor. He has a definitive way of doing business that will do us well,” Powell said. Powell, a retired U.S. general and a Republican, was once seen as a possible presidential candidate himself. Powell said he questioned Sen. John McCain’s judgment in picking Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate because he doesn’t think she is ready to be president. He also said he was disappointed with some of McCain’s campaign tactics, such as bringing up Obama’s ties to former 1960s radical Bill Ayers. Powell served as secretary of state under President Bush from 2001 to 2005. I

No worries. Yeah, links sometimes don’t go to the same item that is copied-and-pasted, for whatever technical reason. I always have to double-check my links when I send an Email, for that very reason.

Sandbee, Smiling this happy Sunday! And won’t it be wonderful when he is Secretary of State for Obama! An honest and problem solving cabinet for the people by the people. Simple honest true values , regardless of party lines. Healing for America and in turn the world… and now the rhetoric of, No Foreign Policy can be canned and thrown in the dumpster!

Powell probably is still loyal to Bush, and didn’t care for the way McCain supposedly threw him under the bus. Of course, everyone gets trashed in politics, so they shouldn’t take it too personally.

I liked that Powell put down McCain’s campaign for their remarks about Muslims, something I have not heard from anyone else. After all, this is suppose to be a country with freedom of religion, not just Christianity. And all religion’s have bad off-shoot groups, just some have more than others.

True enough, Bee. The undercurrent of Swift-boat politics was predicted by Hillary Clinton during the Democratic primary debates last spring.

Me, too, Sandbee! I was surprised and proud that he made that point. Here’s what he said: “I’m also troubled by – not what Senator McCain says – but what members of the Party say, and it is permitted to be said: such things as, “Well, you know that Mr. Obama is a Muslim.”  Well, the correct answer is he is not a Muslim.  He’s a Christian; has always been a Christian.  But the really right answer is, “What if he is?  Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country?”  The answer’s “No, that’s not America.”  Is there something wrong with some seven-year-old Muslim American kid believing that he or she could be President?  Yet, I have heard senior members of my own Party drop the suggestion he’s Muslim and he might be associated with terrorists.  This is not the way we should be doing it in America.    “I feel strongly about this particular point because of a picture I saw in a magazine.  It was a photo essay about troops who were serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  And one picture at the tail end of this photo essay was of a mother in Arlington Cemetery.  And she had her head on the headstone of her son’s grave.  And as the picture focused in, you could see the writing on the headstone. And it gave his awards – Purple Heart, Bronze Star; showed that he died in Iraq; gave his date of birth, date of death.  He was twenty years old. And then at the very top of the headstone, it didn’t have a Christian cross.  It didn’t have a Star of David.  It had a crescent and a star of the Islamic faith.  And his name was Karim Rashad Sultan Kahn.  And he was an American.  He was born in New Jersey, he was fourteen years old at the time of 9/11 and he waited until he could go serve his country and he gave his life.” http://www.opednews.com/articles/Transcript-of-Colin-Powell-by-GeoBear-0…

Rocky Those also sound like talking points from the campaign. Muslims are usually more conservative and vote more republican, so they are trying to bring in the Muslim vote. It is all politics. During the Gulf War who did Powell think he was having bombed, Christians? He was bombing Muslims. Give me a break. How come everyone is getting all sappy about Colin Powell? Is it like waiting for Santa Claus. C’mon ladies let’s get real.

Hi Frannie Em. I certainly don’t feel anything close to sappy about Powell. He was used by the Bushies and that may not have been his fault, but it leads me to suspect what he says. I was surprised the Obama campaign didn’t ask him to keep his endorsement to himself. It did not occur to me to suspect his feelings about the photo of the mom at her son’s grave. Goes to show ya. Just when I think I’m totally cynical … Well, from Powell’s mouth or not, talking points or not, IMO the words are on the right (meaning correct) side.
