Sen. Kennedy Well and Resting, Will Soon Be Released

Sen. Edward Kennedy is reportedly recovering well at Washington Hospital Center after suffering a seizure during yesterday’s Inaugural luncheon. The world was worried because the 76-year-old senator’s currently battling brain cancer, but apparently the seizure came from "simple fatigue," according to hospital staff.
"He’s awake and answering questions," said So Young Pak, a spokeswoman for the hospital.
The New York Times reports:
Dr. Edward F. Aulisi, the hospital’s chairman of neurosurgery, later confirmed in a statement that Mr. Kennedy had had a seizure, which he said had probably been brought on by "simple fatigue" after a long morning in the cold at the Inaugural ceremony. Dr. Aulisi said Mr. Kennedy was "feeling well" and would rest in the hospital overnight before being discharged in the morning.
Last June, the Massachusetts Democrat had surgery for a brain tumor and has since been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Yesterday, a white-haired, frail Kennedy gleamed with excitement as he endured the cold temperatures to witness the swearing in of our next president. It was shortly after, during an Inaugural lunch, that he suffered a seizure. Was he feeling sick during the ceremony? We don’t know.
Meanwhile, Kennedy’s wife, Victoria, and son Patrick, a Democratic congressman from Rhode Island, are by his side. President Obama also called yesterday to check in on his pal. Even with all the excitement, Obama still remembers his friends.
