Sheila Nevins: Why Palin Is a Great Choice

Sheila Nevins

WOW ladies take a breather. This is a wonderful choice. It is a clear choice and that’s what America stands for. The issues that Palin represents though reprehensible to me - represent a constituency and a voice. American democracy represents the right to disagree. It also represents majority rule. The cards are on the table - race, abortion, gun control, stem cell research, taxation, godliness - you name it. There’s no fudging here - no middle of the road. rhetoric. Americans will declare their absolute preferences. And a woman will stand for this. Being a woman doesn’t mean agreeing with the WOW dames. Palin may not be in whom we trust, but there is an odd equality in the sheer selection. Women can be as arbitrary and right wing as any man. And for those of us for whom Sarah Palin’s beliefs belie our deepest convictions. So be it. The great truths lie in an honest ballot box. Vote and live in America or flee if you must. Great choice in the divide A civil war without bullets. Three cheers for clarity.

I feel that Governor Palin was chosen for being a good old boy with a skirt. Guns and oil, raping the land and sea…does she hate trees? What more do we need to know?

I don’t know if she hates trees, she may as they can get in the way of all the oil wells headed to Alaska if she and McCain are voted in. I do know she seems to dislike wolves and polar bears.

What more, Mary? I hear you there. We need everyone to know that she is NOT one of us and certainly not anything even closely resembling a HRC. The two are diametrically opposed on every issue.

I am amazed at what has been happening in Washington DC, and now we have this VP Nomination.

My country is very personal to me so let’s keep skull and bones and their women out of the White House…OK? IS ANYBODY WATCHING WHAT IS GOING ON OR IS IT JUST ME?

Even though I question Palin’s qualifications, and even though I am curious about some of the scandals attributed to her, I will not base any of my judgements on her merits of being a mother. As many others have said, at a certain age, teenagers are going to do what they want to do, regardless of their parents. Palin’s daughter chose to have unprotected sex, got pregnant, and now will have to live with her choice, this situation certainly is not unique to Palin’s daughter. And like far too many before her, this young lady is now going to get a big lesson in being accountable. I know I did. I only hope there is no truth to the rumors that Palin’s daughter and the young man involved, are being “forced” to marry. That in my opinion is worse than Palin’s daughter being pregnant. I hope and pray that Palin’s daughter, has a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. Regardless, of my personal opinion of Palin’s politics.

It’s politics…does the word “choreographed” mean anything to you?

Kay, beware of what “looks like” anything at this point. I’ve been posting here quite a bit about my feelings on Sarah Palin and her choices and what I feel is her lack of good judgment. I’ve even questioned her character quite a bit. Now I find myself more than just a tad nervous at the astounding ability for the Repugs to rise to such a level of deception in their rallying around this woman. If this isn’t the rise of Fascism in America, then I don’t know what is and we all have a LOT to worry about in this election if these two end up governing this country. This is way more than “four more years” of the continuation of Bush-Cheney. This goes way beyond that. I am infused with a sense of major foreboding after seeing this family parading around their pregnant daughter hand-in-hand with the boy who has been declared the father. You wanna bet poor Bristol didn’t receive this familial attention and love until just recently when the campaign decided it may do well to show (image) what a caring mother Sarah Palin is? My conjecture, of course, but when you preach abstinence for all and you can’t keep it together in your own home (uh, mother and daughter) and if this woman can stoop this low to put her child in the national spotlight, there is no end to what she can do to anyone who has crossed her. (I hear that librarian was run off the road somewhere up near Lucile Lake off of Hwy A3). WOOF! I jest. It’s an interesting time, folks. Aside from Rush L who somehow finds time to clear through the haze of his fogged up mind to post here (ugh, that picture and talk about Fascist!) I have found most of you to be the type of American who truly cares about our future (and not just the future of the humans here, but of the landscape and the animals as well). Read a couple of pages out of Lee Penn’s “From Liberty to Leviathan…the War on Freedom”, and you’ll get that distinct feeling that something is not just a little remiss but scarily building in the core of 1/2 of this nation’s beliefs. This is most definitely the time to get as active as you possibly can to remove the horrific possibility of the McCain / Palin ticket. We must work together to get the calls out to those “undecided” voters and not let the stench of deception that has taken over this Repuglican ticket sway them. And ladies, those of you who feel disenfranchised by the lack of the DNC to rise to the occasion and help HRC represent us, this is NOT the time to exercise a protest vote. If you can bring yourself to look at all of the facts about this ticket, you know in your heart that it’s not the time to vote for M / P. And a vote for them allows them to sneer in your face because they know they have a woman who is the complete antithesis of Hillary Rodham Clinton and they’re betting that we’re dumb enough to fall for it.

I agree with this statement. Focus on the economy folks! Eight years is enough. It will only get worse if McCain and Palin is elected. People need to think about their bank accounts, foreclosures, jobs, 401Ks, retirement, Social Security, Health Insurance, children, education, war AND more war, gas prices, etc. etc. It’s timeout for the nonsense. Think, Think, Think. Don’t let the repubs, fool you again. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me … Check out the link below: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/politics/

What is she a good choice for? The NRA? Hipocritical Christians and people with no sense of style or taste..please -that hair!! She is a small minded dangerous person with limited experience and questionable credentials who should not be a heartbeat away from the most powerful office in the world.

Palin is a woman who represents, I believe, a silent majority. A real, everyday woman, not “blue-collar” which when spoken by some simply means “uneducated” but real women. We are women who have thought out reasons as to why we might be pro-life, against gay marriage, for protecting our country and spreading liberty. As sort of a side note I do think some of the issues are simply for states to decide but that is for another discussion. It is just a breath of fresh air for me to see a strong woman who more closely mirrors my beliefs and holds a position of power. We are underrepresented. I was proud of Hillary but I knew I could not vote for her because she doesn’t speak for what I truly believe is right. So I am anxious to see what Palin is all about and I feel good about her as a choice for VP.

You’re dictating to me what I have to do according to your beliefs and calling it spreading liberty?
