SNL: 'Dick Cheney' Unregretful Interview With 'Diane Sawyer' (Video)

By The Staff at wowOwow.com
"Cheney" on "SNL"

"Saturday Night Live" wasted no time this weekend taking a few comedic shots at the outgoing Bush administration.

In its opening sketch, the comedy troupe poked fun at departing Vice President Dick Cheney and his exit interview with Diane Sawyer. Cheney, who turns 68 this month, leaves behind a controversy-addled legacy. In the "SNL" exit interview clip, no matter what "Diane Sawyer" asked — from his response after 9/11 to hurricane Katrina — "Cheney" regrets nothing — not even shooting his friend in the face. Oddly enough, the responses seem nearly in line with the real Dick’s take …

Do you think Cheney — who’s been working at the White House since the Ford administration, where he served as White House Chief of Staff — deserves more respect? This is a man who’s devoted his life to his country and, although it’s been riddled with controversy (including the Scooter Libby scandal), do you think we’re being too hard on him? Or is he getting exactly what he deserves?

Watch the "SNL" clip and tell us what you think:

This is a man who’s devoted his life to his country”… Devoted his life to his country or to himself?

I can’t get the video to work, but my answer to your question is NO! Never!

People like Cheney and Marcus Schrenker think they can steal enough to make themselves respectable…what they don’t understand could fill several stadiums!

I cannot get the video to play. But I would ask all the people who have been tortured and who have died and suffered due to the Iraq war if THEY think Cheney deserves more respect. I just wonder if Bush has any regrets for allowing Cheney to choose himself for his VP. Also, it is one of the jobs of SNL to lampoon political figures. Everyone is game. Cheney, Bush and Palin just hand the comedy to them on a silver platter.

It seems that the same people, on here & on most blogs, that have no constuctive comments, to make about anyone, only bash others (on the blogs, or off,or the person posting the article). This nation need to have people come together, with ideas, to solve are problems. There are good people from both sides, that have good ideas, but so many of these are not heard, as the insults & name calling is so loud, that no hears the ideas. We blame everyone but ourselves for the problems, but we are citizens are responsible for the problems. We have a choice. We can accept that responsibility or blame someone else. When we blame, what kind of an example are we sending our children???

Uh - just filled out the whole interview until I got to the final question. What is my income? I think that’s my business. So I guess my survey answers didn’t go through. (BTW even if it’s anonymous - it’s easy to track the email of the sender). mo

Robert - Your comment has merit, but this thread is about SNL and the Cheney sketch. It was comedy and funny, as are all SNL political sketches. There is no need to make constructive comments about a comedy show, as they present politics as it really is - often just a comedy that we can all laugh at. Your answer is irrelevent for this subject. Cheney is old news, thank god, and his past is now just that - the past, and he lost all respect in the last 8 yrs.
