'SNL' Snags Two News Ladies: Abby Elliott and Michaela Watkins

There’s a new generation of funny ladies headed to ‘Saturday Night Live’!
Abby Elliott and Michaela Watkins join the long-running sketch comedy show this Saturday - just weeks after super star Amy Poehler went on leave to care for her new baby. And, in a twist of comedic fate, both women have previously worked with Los Angeles-based troupe, The Groundlings.
In addition to being seen in ‘Saturday Night Live,’ Watkins also appears on ABC’s comedy ‘The New Adventures of Old Christine,’ which stars Christina Applegate. Elliott, who comes from the uproarious Upright Citizens Brigade, sure is no stranger to the storied ‘SNL’ stage: her father, Chris Elliott, appeared on the show during its 1994/1995 season.
