Head Writer Seth Meyers on a Post-Election 'Saturday Night Live'; Biden's Invited

All the White House candidates got their moment on "Saturday Night Live" this election season – all except Joe Biden, that is.
But he might soon get his chance.
"Saturday Night Live" head writer Seth Meyers told Politico that he’s kicking himself for not getting the new vice president-elect to appear on the show during the presidential race – and that “the door is still open.” Politico did an e-mail Q&A with 34-year-old Meyers on what America will miss on "SNL" now that the White House race is over:
Sorry, Tina Fey fans. She’s out for good.
Q: Reaction to Obama’s win?
MEYERS: I had an hour of goose bumps and then my natural cynicism kicked in. It’s not a great time to start being president.
Q: Favorite part of the campaign?
MEYERS: [CNN’s] John King’s map skills.
Q: Who will you miss most?
MEYERS: I know it’s obvious to say Sarah Palin, but, you know, Sarah Palin. Although we’d be fools to think she’s leaving the national scene for good so I imagine she is a gift that will keep on giving.
Q: What is your best line this election?
MEYERS: I was really happy with the line in our first cold open (Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin) where Amy (as Hillary) said in regards to covering the Palin campaign, “I invite the media to grow a pair, and if they don’t they can borrow mine. “
Q: You’ve met them all at this point – Obama, McCain, Clinton, Palin. Oh, the irony — Joe Biden is probably dying to host "SNL" and hasn’t. Are they all just typical politicians? Did any surprise you?
MEYERS: They put a lot of faith in us that we are going to take care of them. They were all charismatic and likeable. And Joe Biden is my biggest regret. I really wanted some quality Biden time. The door is still open, Joe.
