Ladies in the Know Offer Obama WMD Advice

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Frances Fragos Townsend and Ret. Maj. General Donna Barbisch have some advice for how President Obama should approach the war on terror: Don’t underestimate the threat, and don’t just throw money at the problem.

In New York to talk about weapons of mass destruction at a Center for Security Policy event on Tuesday, Townsend, former homeland security adviser to President Bush, and Ret. Maj. General Donna Barbisch, former Defense Department director of the chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear program integration, stressed that while Obama could usher in a new era of diplomacy and fence-mending when it comes to how the U.S. deals with terror threats, he can’t let up on hunting the terrorists down — whether they be Al-Qaeda or anyone else.

Obama’s decision to give his first formal presidential interview to Al-Arabiya was "really smart," Townsend said, but "even if people around the world like us better, let us make no mistake: We are not going to prevent an attack by being liked more."

Barbisch cited particular concern with biological weapons, also known as "the poor man’s weapon of mass destruction."

"You can make ricin in your bathtub," she said, stressing the need for the public-health community to be involved in any preventative security efforts here at home.

Her advice to Obama as to how to handle this particular threat? Don’t put up a "false wall" and pretend we’re safe from biological warfare if we’re far from prepared. "We’re spending way too much money on things that don’t make a difference," she said.

How do get that he is more Arab than African American? I think it is great that he has knowledge of a broad range of cultures it gives him a much better idea on how things should be approached. If anything I will be watching to make sure that Palestine is given even handed treatment seeing as we have given Israel total backing for years and that has been most of the problem over the years. We have not been honest brokers in this Israeli conflict, too much support for Israel and that does not bode well for fairness for Palestine.

We’re spending way too much money on things that don’t make a difference,” she said. … yep 8 years of that, time for a change.

http://colony14.net/id41.html If you find the time, DeB, you might consider reading something about how our new president spent the formative years of his life and who is mentors are. I am not interested in wasting my time trying to change someone’s mind but I do think being well informed is good for both liberals and conservatives.

When a person writes a book, and some think Ayers wrote this book for Obama, one has a tendency to write what they want people to believe about them. This book when first published didn’t sell. It was only after Obama began his campaign for president that it became a hot item and sold millions. Americans love a hero and they have a soft spot for someone they think has risen to the top on their own without help from anyone….especially an African American male. When Obama announced his desire to run for president, it was at a time when we desperately needed a hero. We elected him without knowing his actual background.

Ayers wrote the book—more unfactual innuendo—

some” think Ayers wrote Obama’s book…. YOU are the some and there is no thinking involved. You don’t want to think you want to spread rumors and nonsense like that.

Wow that Ayers must be brilliant… he only first MET Obama in November of 1995, AFTER the book was published. Amazing that he could write it for him.

And some people think that the earth is flat or that the moon landing was a hoax. So fricking what? There are people who think that the holocaust never occured! There is no evidence that Ayers wrote the book for Obama.

OMG… you really need to get your information from some sources which are not psycho-right wing websites designed only to spread rumors and right wing spin.

DB, This is an example of the intellectual quality of the people the Republican party has recruited over the last 29 years. If you can get people to believe stupid lies, that’s who you want when your shoveling the baloney to get their votes. Unfortunately enough time has past now and that is all that is left and now they are running for office. Re the Bush years and all those wonderful appointments he made. I’m embarrassed to be a Republican.

You are so correct about who the GOP has recruited as their foot soldiers. Uninformed, misinformed, scared, usually fervent fundamentalists willing to vote against their own best interests AND the best interests of the country out of spite for a straw man enemy called those “Liberals”! Although I never was a Republican due to a difference of opinion about how things should be run, I never thought of the Republican Party as being full of uninformed dimwits before the Rush Limbaugh takeover. Now it seems to have deteriorated to a group of people more concerned with pushing the spin than with reality. People who probably never read a newspaper or news magazine before in their lives, let alone book NOT written by hacks like Ann Coulter. These are people who LOVE Sarah Palin, though they really don’t know why, except that she is vaguely “like” them and she says lots of fun things that reinforce their fear and dislike of those who they believe are NOT “like” them. They are people who frequent fringe right wing blogs full of anger at those Limbaugh/Hannity/Coulter “villains”… the Liberals and blame “Liberals” for all they hate and fear, because it is easier to be spoon fed garbage like that by right wing radio, than to become informed and use reason to decide what is best.

Hi DeBurca obj, FLUSH RUSH! I haven’t seen one of these bumper stickers in a long while…..a troubling fact. I heard today on NPR that Limbaugh is broadcast on like 600+ radio stations nationwide. The guest said Rush earned something like 33 million dollars in one year a few years ago. Out-freakin-ragious! And the horse he rode in on too! If Americans have crowned Rush: King of Political Wisdom…..that’s pathetic.

Well, he’s holding the Republicans in office hostage. He has his legions of ignorant groupies who hang on his every word (you can tell just by reading the terminology coming out of most of the right wingers in here) and if a Republican politician goes against him… he just crucifies them on his radio show and gets the guy to apologize. The Republican Party is fighting for it’s life right now and may very well end up becoming the Rush Limbaugh Party. Then it’s dead, because all the thinking Republicans will leave.

I’ve read this link. All of the contreversial items are only supported by blogs, where people make supositions. I could throw up a blog about how it’s obvious that Palin is really an anarchist. Does that make it a valid link? No. It would be like someone linking to our conversation here as proof for something.
