Spitzer's Prostitute Talks: She Didn't Even Know He Was the Governor

Ashley Dupré — the pricey prostitute hired by former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer — isn’t bothered by the thought of him in his black socks, but by the thought of the wife he was cheating on.

"I try not to revisit that place too often, but when I think about his [resignation] speech, I think of her face, her eyes, the hurt," the former high-priced lady of the night told People magazine in the issue that hits newsstands Friday, The New York Post reports.

If she could say anything to Silda Wall Spitzer, it would be, "I’m sorry for your pain."

In her first detailed interview since Spitzer’s fall, Dupré said what happened between her and the ex-governor inside Washington’s Mayflower Hotel on February 13 was “strictly business,” but said she didn’t even know that her “Client No. 9,” going by the name “George Fox,” was the governor.

"I mean, ask a lot of 22-year-olds," she said. "I was wrapped up in my family, my music. I knew the name, but the face … I’m not really a TV person," she told People.

It seems Ashley Dupré is finally getting more than her two seconds of fame.

She’s going to next be interviewed by ABC’s Diane Sawyer on “20/20,” and will talk about her life as a pricey escort. The show will air Friday at 10 PM.

Dupré will talk about how an "upper middle-class, girl next door got into the profession and the psychological journey she continues to experience."

Yeah, Frank, she feels all that pain as she takes her money to the bank. Does she also have a multimillion dollar book deal? Wouldn’t it be wonderful if, instead of wasting the People’s time with this trash, Diane Sawyer and the other media interviewers thought of guests to get us inspired into helping our country and excited about the new path we are embarking on as a nation, and defining our problems in ways people can understand, and….oh well, just daydreaming, I guess.

I wanted to say that about the time the Spitzer thing came out a bunch of news folks got on the wagon of profiling supposed “high end” prostitutes. Well… I know a young woman who was struggling financially and emotionally who after watching all of this answered a craigs list add for an “escort”. She was subsequently drugged and raped. AND transported across state lines. She’s lucky to be alive today. I want to say shame on the media for making this look like a safe and glamorous life style. And shame on us for not making prostitution legal so this young woman had some protection. I tried like hell to get her to go the police and she was both to scared and ashamed.

Once again, Mommy feels that prostitution should be legalized, and these women should be provided health care and physical protection with the proceeds from taxation on their income. Before we judge them, dears, we should realize that there would be no business if not for ‘johns,’ who are rarely punished, and who the ones who make the decisions to cheat on their wives - not the prostitutes. Kudos to Kelly for such an insightful comment.

And she STILL doesn’t get it. Well, maybe in 10 years she can reflect on this chapter of her life and see the damage she caused to herself and others by her actions. You can’t simply blame it on being 22 years old. The world is filled with 20-somethings that choose not to sell their bodies and souls in the attempt to make a buck.

It’s not a prostitute’s fault that married men buy what they’re selling. The entire fault lies with the married men—Spitzer, in this case—who decide to buy. I think prostitution should be legalized, so there is no spread of disease & to free our police officers to fight violent crimes, instead of fool with these hoes & their johns all the time. But the pimps, prostitutes do not want it legal, because it cuts into their profits, since they have to pay taxes then & get medical check ups etc., plus there’s less anonymity for the hoes & the johns both. Some of their best customers may no longer want to risk it. Plus, remember, Eliot Spitzer was accused of using public money to pay for psrostitutes—but was found not guilty of it—he used his own money. That IS a personal failing, especially for a law man, but he was targeted by the Bush Administration & specifically brought down politically, to stop him from bringing the Wall Street & Mortgage criminals to justice. It was all over the Washington Post & otherjpapers how Spitzer had declared himself the cop of Wall Street & this mortgage meltdown & how he was going after these guys who broke the law & created this financial mess wer are in. Bush had to stop him or be found directly involved. His Administration let it be known they were no longer going to enforce the laws on the books that had prevented mortgage fraud during all the other presidential administrations—that prevented home appraisers from rating houses as more than they were worth, that prevented rating companies from getting away scott free from stamping junk mortgages with an “AAA” rating so they could be sold abroad & cause other banks the world over to go under along with our own. That’s why at the G-20, the other nations said the US was to blame for this entire financial world wide breakdown. Eliot Spitzer may personally be a cad, but he deserves the medal of freedom & the admiration of the people for bravely trying to bring the criminals who caused this meltdown to justice—almost singlehandedly—and he had to pay the price—political death.

PS—didn’t it seem odd to anyone that the only man the Justice Dept could find guilty of seeing this prostitute was Spitzer? I guess we are to believe that no other high profile men see prostitutes? Just Spitzer. It was so wrong that Bush used the Justice Dept to “kill” Spitzer.
