Ever wonder how French President Nicolas Sarkozy began his whirlwind romance with former model Carla Bruni? We have — and now we know!

According to eyewitness accounts of their first meeting — published today — Sarkozy, whose wife walked out on him a month prior, instantly fell for Bruni, who has been called a "maneater." The president was so smitten, in fact, that he proposed marriage to her the first night they met at a dinner party. He even dared her to kiss him on the lips, suggested she would be Marilyn Monroe to his JFK and told her he knew as much about her previous bedroom romps as she did about him reportedly being a womanizer, according to the British Times:

The freshly divorced president also claimed to be her romantic and sexual soul mate and jealously mocked the legs of Mick Jagger, one of her former lovers. The fly-on-the-wall tale of the future first couple’s high-octane mating rituals came from Jacques Séguéla, the friend who invited them on a blind date to his home on November 13, 2007. They married seven weeks later. 

Certainly sounds juicy.
